there are many ways to cook sweet potatoes.
you could scrub the skins and bake them (slice a little "X" thru the skin on the top)
you can slice them or cut them into strips and fry them o (I don't deep fry, but can be done)
you can slice them and bake them
Here are a few ways I cook them:
Baking:
-preheat oven to 400 deg.
-crush a few tsp. of rosemary
-put a little olive oil in a shallow pan and spread around the pan
-slice potatoes about 1/4 in. (or thicker if you like)
-place on pan and turn each piece over to coat with the oil
-sprinkle with rosemary
-when they start to brown on one side (check the bottom), turn and sprinkle other side with rosemary.
When done, serve and enjoy. Sometimes I like to put a little salt on them when they're cooked this way.
In the fry pan it's just a few tblsp of oil. More if you like them a little crispier. Don't season. Heat oil on med-high heat. Place strips (I like the steak fry size) into heated oil and cook on med. heat, turning until both sides start to brown. When done, add seasonings of choice (I still like the rosemary), or just salt and pepper.
HINT: don't ever precook sweet potatoes for this last method... they cook more quickly than regular potatoes, so it's not necessary. Just watch them closely... they can darken too quickly. Also.. it's not necessary to peel them.. the skins are good for you.
Enjoy! Sweet potatoes are a healthy choice!

In south east asia, Sweet potatoes iare used a lot in desserts.
You might gag at that idea but think about carrot cake and pumpkin pie.
A common dessert is Sweet potato soup.
What u need is sweet potato chunks plus a stalk of pandan leaf plus a piece of ginger, around 3to 4 cm long.
Boil the sweet potato and pandan leave and ginger. adding enough water to cover twice the level of the sweet potatoes.
Let it come to a boi then simmer for up to 45 mins.
Add rock sugar to taste and serve.
Bon appetit.

Peel first, slice, then put in baking pan. Drizzle with butter or honey, then bake in oven on 350 until done.
You can also cook them in the microwave with the jackets on. Pierce the skin with a fork in a couple of places, then coat with oil. Bake one potato for 5-6 minutes or until soft.

Nutrition is sometimes overlooked when it comes to sweet potatoes. my best way is to first wash them well. then place them in the oven whole at 350 degrees f. for about an hour till they become fork tender. Then drisel a little butter over them and eat them up. The peel itself contains alot of potasium so dont leave it out plus its my faviorate part!

My favorite way is to slice them thin after peeling them. Then I add them to regular potatoes, green peppers and onions and put them in aluminum foil. I put this on the grill with some butter, salt and pepper. Sheer heaven!
