Well actually you can make your computer Shut-Down and Start Up at certain time... I've done this with many large companies.
1) depending on what type of pc you have and os you have there may be a few diffrent options you have. If you have a Dell or Compaq computer with WindowsXP and under you can do this with either the System Bios Settings or if your lucky the Task Manager.
When starting up your computer press the F8 or F2 button... this does depend on the system and will read when starting up "Press F# to go to setup" or something of that nature. Now look under the "Power" tab if you have one, otherwise just look around untill you see the power settings. There will be a setting that says "Shutdown Time" Startup Time" and if you set it correctly your computer will startup and shutdown at that time.
The other way is to use the task manager and to create a .bat file and have it run a certain time which will cause the system to shut down. Now, this is a little more advanced but i'm sure if you search it enough you can find it online. Then just setup the taskmanager (ya winxp still uses it) and then try it out. If you need more help setting this up try going to www.4dnl.com and e-mailing one of the support links and i'm sure on of my technictions will help you at no charge. Just tell them you were referred by DNL

Hi Yasmine,
I'm guessing you aren't a computer geek so I'm going to try to help out. DNL's reply is the best. Try his suggestion about the BIOS first. If not then you'll have to schedule a task using the task scheduler.
It's actually pretty simple. Click start and select Programs. Go to accessories and select Task Scheduler.
I have Vista so my settings might be slightly different but I think they are pretty similar.
When you go into it mine has an option to schedule a basic task or a task. Select basic task (it runs an easy-to-use wizard).
The first screen you are basically naming the task - you can call it whatever you want "shutdown" would work then click next. Now we want to enter when we want it to run. Select Daily if you want it to shut down daily at a specific time and click on on next. Now we enter the date/time - leave the date alone but change the time to what you want it to be (let's say 2:00 a.m.) click on next. Now you should be at the action page. You want to select start a program. I'm going to assume iyiogren's response is correct. Here you would enter rundll.exe in the "program/script" box and under "add arguments" you enter user.exe,exitwindows. Click on Next (it will give you a summary of what you did and click on Finish.
Hope I clarified things.

if ur using windows xp try this easy steps:
1. run command prompt
2. type "shutdown -i" a dialog box will appear called" Remote Shutdown Dialog.
3. in this dialog box add a computer name, which is the name of ur computer.
4. choose what operation to do either shutdown, restart, or log-off.
5. choose what are ur reasons for shutdown, and choose how many minutes you have to wait b4 the computer will shutdown.
6. click ok
i have try this and it won't hurt ur PC, the good things is you can still work on ur pc while waiting 4 it to shutdown.

you will need a script or computer program which can be able to check system date. Then enable it to run the following commands:
rundll.exe user.exe,exitwindows
