im 14 about 5'6'' and i weight about 262 ...do you think its possible to lose about 30-50 pounds by august 23,2007....i have dance dance revolution and i recently got a basketball hoop...i got a south beach diet book....but i havent started yet...and im always tired when i get home from school...i was active but not as much now.....another reason is i think it will make me feel better about myself physically ...mentally(health wise) because im always complaining about stuff and i think most of it comes from being overweight... being scared something is wrong (health wise)...and another thing im pretty fast for my weight but i dont have stamina and energy and i think i have a weak immune system so sometimes i get sick somehow when i exercise.......

1.does south beach diet work
2.is it possible to lose that much weight
4.will it make me healthier and strengthen my immune system
3. any other stuff yall want to tell me to motivate me :)
6. will it give me more energy , stamina, and speed

feeling tired is a sign of undereating or dehydration.
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

The best time to lose weight is when you are young! It can come off faster and with less skin tone loss now than when you are approaching 40! What helped me the most was eating soup and eating all my meals before 4 or 5 pm! I snacked on popcorn (no wet butter) and made homemade brownies and no bake oatmeal cookies out of cocoa for snacks. Must have my chocolate! Look into certain foods that help jump start your metabolism! Please do increase your activity don't let depression or your brain slow you down.
Dance to your favorite music! There was no better motivator for me than music. When a favorite band of mine put out a new album I would lose 5 lbs. automatically by dancing to it! But you have to dance like you mean it or like you have to get something off your mind! Don't deprive yourself of all your favorite foods or any diet will fail! Be sensible and think I want to feel good, live my life to the fullest, and no one is going to sabotage my effort! Determination!

If you think in terms of losing 10 lbs./month you certainly could lose 40 lbs. by August.
This takes discipline and total commitment to yourself.
Keep regular waking/sleeping hours. Don't eat after 7PM or just have cereal to fill yourself if you can't stand it.
Eat breakfast like Cheerios, oatmeal or Special K. It helps digestion and to fill you up. Also- it takes energy to process the food, so believe it or not- it kicks metabolism into motion.
Portion control with granola snacks or fruit in between to maintain blood sugar and help with appetite.
Salad for lunch- careful of the dressing and things you put on it- like no bacon bits.
A skinless meat or a fish dish for dinner baked or broiled with a veggie and fruit for dessert. Some of the tastiest smoothies have strawberry/bannana a dash of vanilla and some ice- tastes like frappes.
Exercise one hour/day keeping heart rate up consistently.
Lots of water.
No chips, fried foods, snack cakes or soda and you will definately do it.
The exercise will help with lower blood pressure, weight loss, depression, maybe your immune system, positive self esteem, lower cholesterol, diabetes prevention and taking care of yourself proves that you love your self enough to be a great, motivated, strong, healthy you. Good luck!!!

no that sounds like an awful lot of weight to lose in such a short amount of time. you want to take your time. eat balanced healthy meals and stay away from sugary or fatty foods. eat lots of fruits and vegetables and lean proteins with whole grains. speak to your doctor and find a nutritionist. they will help. please don't do anything drastic either don't starve yourself or fall into the trap of those fad diets. spend more time with people who care they will help to motivate you and keep you on the right track. your health will thank you many years to come

eat those quaker oatmeal packets-- mix one flavor with one plain. the breakfast will help you lose weight :)
