No, the British by far have been the filthiest. I think the French were just trying to send off a message; while at the same time trying to do something about their own nastiness. Bravo to them.

I think the Scots were the filthiest tribe in Europe followed by others of Britain. It was only when the British kingdom moved into France that the french began developing perfumes - an odd coincidence.
The British began changing their surnames to french sounding ones and the french gave them deodorant to match.
Many surnames in Britain point to this fact. i.e. Smelly,
Harcus (translated means filthy, unkempt).

Huh? Well they are arrogant I must admit. I'm talking about Quebec though. This seems odd. A province that is always talking seperation, is where canada gets most of its candadates that sit in office. Plus in Quebec, there is the language police. They can have no English signs displayed in public, unless the english is under the french. But they love politics, and are always keeping our great country in an upheavel because of their arrogant thoughts. Why should any quebecers sit on government when they always have seperation on the back burner? I really wish they WOULD flock off - I think our government would be more stable.
When I was young, my father gave me these words of advice:
Don't marry a french man. As an adult, I can see why. I never did.

It is always a good idea to try questions out first in google.
From:
http://inventors.about.com/library/inventors/blperfume.htm
Perfume is thousands of years old - the word "perfume" comes from the Latin per fume "through smoke". One of the oldest uses of perfumes comes form the burning of incense and aromatic herbs used in religious services, often the aromatic gums, frankincense and myrrh, gathered from trees. The Egyptians were the first to incorporate perfume into their culture followed by the ancient Chinese, Hindus, Israelites, Carthaginians, Arabs, Greeks, and Romans. The earliest use of perfume bottles is Egyptian and dates to around 1000 BC. The Egyptians invented glass and perfume bottles were one of the first common uses for glass.

I wouldn`t say that they were the filthiest but I do know that there is substance in what you said regarding perfume, during that period of aristocracy they seldom bathed and often because of wearing those permed wigs they suffered from headlice.

I've never seen anyone bash the French people in this section before. Congratulations on being the first.
What exactly does this have to to with either religion or spirituality?
I suspect you "accidentally" posted your question in the wrong section.

I don't know about that ... sure they generally wear the same clothes several times without washing them, but that whole thing about NOT Wearing Deodorant in Germany ... you don't get used to it ... your olfactory senses just get burned out from the acrid smell of armpit. Put that together with summer, unshaven underarms and sleeveless wear, and the women become almost unbearable.
Sorry, Germany gets my vote. It's enough to make one lose one's Religion.
