Yes, you should stop - checking the scale that often. Our body weight naturally fluctuates, daily, and weekly. Long term loss, or weight stability is what is really important.

I would suggest weighing yourself once a week, or even once a month. When you weigh yourself be sure to do it at the same time of day. Over time, you will be able to see your true weight trend.

Don't be so focused on the number, remember there can be variances even in your scale. Focus on how you feel, how that favorite outfit feels when you wear it, and always remember to get enough exercise too since muscle helps maintain good metabolism and long term health.

I have been through this kind of behavior myself. IIt wasn't "detrimental" to me at the time, I was 20 years old, active and in perfect shape. I just had this thing about being under 100 lbs. I am only 5 feet tall, small boned, so I was never skinny. It was like a contest, that's all. I was young and did it for a while. I did not even weigh myself every single day, however. I weighed myself in my offices medical office on a their scale.

I don't know how old you are, and you don't say if you are overweight, underweight, just the right weight, or anything. You sound obsessed with your weight.

As I have mutured, I judge how my weight is by how my clothes fit. I don't give it much thought until they start to feel tight or uncomfortable.

Put the scale away if you can, give yourself a break for a while. If this is bbecause you are, or think you are overweight, find a sesible diet to help you lose some weight. The best ones are geared toward "healthy" eating, so it's food a a way of eating that can benefit you in many ways besides losing weight. If you are, or think you are underweight, my question is: Is why? Are you naturally thin, or do you have an "eating disorder" like anorexia or bulimia.
This is more serious, and may require professional help to intervene in these behaviors. If your weight is normal, was it always? If you keep weighing yourslef several times a day, and you are a good, healthy weight for your height and bone structure, it souns like something's wrong. Put the scale away. Get weighed, if you can't tell from your clothes, where you can find a precise scale, such as in your doctor's office or if your workplace or school has one, use that.

I wish you well, there are so many other things you could be enjoying while you're checking your weight. Be good to yourself, it sounds like you need a break. Give yourself one, do something else for a while, like eating and living a healthy lifestyle. If you don't know what a good, healthy eating plan is, go to websites, there are many, many, and free, like Denise Austin's tips every day. She's not all about just excercising, but healthy eating. Just go to the web and look under Healthy eating and you can get on an email list for all sorts of tips, with recipes and everything. Another one is "everyday health and "healthy eating."

Yes, there is absolutely no point checking in constantly throughout the day, your body is not going to gain/lose weight that quickly. Any weigh fluctuations you see will be due to fluid retention.

Maybe you have a form of obsessive compulsive disorder and it would be best to speak to your doctor if you feel this obsession is taking over your life.

Yes, the scale will still be there when you get back to it. Your weight can fluctuate as much as ten pounds in one day due to caloric intake, water intake, stress, exercise, temperature, and your metabolism. Focus on your lifestyle instead, and plan activities that will encourage the optimum use of all these factors. Make the scales a validation rather than a nagging watchdog sort of thing.

Hope this helps.
