I am usually dizzy from a neurological disorder, but this is much worse. I have been taking benadryl non stop for weeks because of the allergy season. I haven't taken it for a couple of days. This feeling is real similiar to what I felt when I went of the SSRI Zoloft. Both Benadryl and Zoloft work on similiar stuff in the brain. Anyone else ever dizzy from stopping Benadryl?

Dizziness is a possible side effect of Benadryl, but I can't find anything specifically suggested that it could also be a symptom of Benadryl withdrawal. However, I did see that Benadryl is indicated in some cases to treat symptoms of dizziness. Therefore, it's entirely possible that something in your environment (such as an allergen or pathogen) is causing you dizziness, and the Benadryl you were taking for your allergies was incidentally treating your dizziness. Therefore, when you stopped taking Benadryl, the dizziness began to effect you, and it seemed that stopping taking the medication had caused it, when really Benadryl was the only thing stopping you getting dizzy in the first place. If the dizziness is sever, I'd suggest seeing a doctor.

Benadryl on its own can cause giddiness. It is a first generation anti-histamine which has the ability to cross the blood brain barrier, thus resulting in giddiness. However, if I interpret it correctly, you have stopped using benadryl. Therefore, it is unlikely that beneadryl is the cause if it. Benadryl is a short acting anti-histamine, and the effects should wear off within 6-8 hours of the last dose. Allergic rhinitis itself can cause giddiness, especially in the presence of nasal congestion. Therefore, this is the likely cause of your giddiness.

You'd be wondering why you had the giddiness when zoloft was stopped. SSRIs on the whole are known to have a long half-life. It may last days to 2 weeks in the blood after in is stopped. Thus, the side effects of the drugs is felt due to the drug being present in the circulation.
