. . . how readily, people who constantly quote the Scriptures, which roll off their tongues, are also the ones who easily insult other people or groups who think different from them?

I do find it strange that many people seem to be able to memorize the whole book and miss the whole point.

There are a lot of people who do things like that, on BOTH sides of the issue. I think that we gays can do the same things with Christians as well. I know that when someone says things sometimes, my first reaction is commonly "he's a christian, he's wrong" instead of listening to what he has to say before judging.

That being said, I see that Christians DO things like that they wouldn't accept done to them. The best example of this is the big uproar over the offensive cartoons to Muslims that were in Denmark last year. The Christians were the first group to say that the Muslims don't have any right to push their religion on people, but here in the US there is a HUGE religious movement to try to make into law their religious beliefs. I feel that MANY Christians (certainly not all, or even a majority) are very hypocritical in not following the rules they want to impose on others.

EDIT -- to birdsflies. I know not all Christians do that, but there have been many times when I have been simply talking with someone, and I have been preached to with Bible quotes. And it happens here all the time. If you believe that it happens only when we ask, you are VERY wrong, or maybe just very naive. No one would ever ask a Bible question and not expect a Biblical answer. This is a very different situation.

Have you been insulted, You claim us Christians are ready to roll off scriptures, Do you know why that is, It is because people ask us Christians a question about the bible, Just as some ask about islam. Do you expect a islamic person the use our bible to answer a question, No, Now tell me where you have been insulted, So we Christians can help you fix your problem. Hey, Friend, if you don't want a bible answer, don't ask for one.

Haven't you noticed that it is not just the scripture talking ones it is everyone and anyone who has an opinion. I have seen it With every race and nationality as well as every religion this is just the way people are. They want you to think like they do. Should you care what others think? Or do you have your own mind?

YES! They ALWAYS quote from scriptures (When they have nothing logical to say) and they insult others while having no proof that they're the 'true' path.

Not everyone who says Lord! Lord! shall enter the kingdom of Heaven.
Yes! there are passionate people out there who want to defend their faith. And it should be done in a loving way.
The people here to quote scriptures and then insult others are in mature in their faith. They will grow in Christ daily and learn from Jesus that love conquers all.
We should not judge the lost. That is for God.
However, we are to shine like a light so others will want to know what we have that makes us so happy.
The bible also says that we shouldn't argue with a fool. If someone is willing to listen to us, we are planting a seed in them for The Lord and it is His job to do the rest.
But if they rebuke us, shake the dust off our feet and move on.

Yep. And they give a thumbs up to those answers they agree with. Or thumbs down to the answers they don't agree with - like we were all on american idol looking to see who gets the most/better votes.

Like who cares? I thought the point was, when asked, was to share your point of view. Not have a beauty pageant.

Don't you think it must be nice to be able to quote things instead of thinking?
