I have had "Herpes I" in the form of cold sores on my mouth.
My partner contracted "Herpes I" gentially when receiving oral sex from someone with a cold sore.
My question is, can I recontract Herpes I from my partner genitally, or am I already immune in that I already have the virus orally.

Yes, you can contract herpes simplex virus 1 as genital herpes. You would then have HSV1 as genital herpes and as cold sores.

The kind of herpes you have now is only affecting your mouth and lips, not your genital area. It doesn't make you immune to your genital area though. You can always contract genital herpes (either HSV1 or HSV2) in the genital area if you have sex with someone who has it.

HSV1 can cause Genital herpes and HSV2 can cause Oral herpes (Cold sores). HSV-1 is responsible for only 5-10% of genital herpes cases, while HSV-2 causes the majority of genital herpes cases. HSV-2 can be transmitted through oral or genital secretions. An estimated 86 million people worldwide are thought to have genital herpes.
Please see the web pages for more details on Herpes simplex.

as soon as you contract the herpes virus, it stays in your immune system, so you can get it again

That depends upon the virus you have. You must be having HSV1. And if your partner has HSV2, you can get that.
