You asked a very tough question normally asked those appearing for their fellow ship. However the answer is that :
1) It can be referred pain of a cardiac infarction (also known as referred pain).
2) having history of hypertension THIS SYMPTOM WILL POINT TO A DISSECTING ANEURYSM OF ABDOMINAL AORTA.
The above 2 have to be ruled out first.
3) it can be due to GERD which is easily relieved by i/v dose of antacid.
So consult your doctor when in doubt.

It is hard to tell the difference. My hubby went to hospital and was told it was stomach problems. A short time later he was back in the hospital with a heart attack and had 6 bypass grafts. You cant trust what they tell you. He was only 53 at the time and they told him he was to young to have a heart attack.

Only a physician can tell the difference. If you are having pain I strongly suggest that you get off of this site and go to the nearest ER. If it "IS" cardiac pain then time is of the essence. Please go,
