my boyfriend and i are close and stuff, so one time we starting messing around and like touching each other and stuff..well for one thing, is that considered sex? because it was just his hand. and also, is there a way for me to get an STD from that, like if his hands weren't clean or something? because i really don`t want to have to explain that to my parents.

The people who said that hands can carry STDs are correct; they can. Most viruses do not survive in air, but if the person has a cut or lesion in the skin on their fingers, and they come in contact with a person with an STD, and then touch you, they are able to transfer that STD on. The cuts (open flesh) allow the virus or disease, to be transferred.

Yes, penetration is sex, and that includes fingers (or tongue).

What the **** are you doing "having sex" if you don't know what it is?

1st. Sex is where his thing is in you . . hands don't count
2nd. You can't get an STD from his hands unless he has one touched himself and then touched you (in some cases)
3rd. BEFORE you decide to have sex (if he has had sex before) you need to have him go to a local family planning clinic and have an STD test. That way you're protected. Also, be sure you're on the pill AT LEAST 2 weeks before you have sex a month is better you dont' want any babies running around.
You're fine so don't be worried. ~good luck~

if you look up sex in the dictionary it says sex is penetration by a man, it dose not say that it has to be his penis, so yes it is sex, if you both have sores and he has an STD and had touched himself, and got body fluid on his hands and didn't washed his hands then yes you could get an STD, it is very rare but it could happen, if you can not talk to your parents then you need to speak with a counsellor or a nurse at your school.

Hon, if you don't know what sex is, then you are way too young to be doing ANY "messing around."

STDs are called that because they are SEXUALLY TRANSMITTED. You can only get them from sex. And your boyfriend would have had to put his penis in your vagina for you to have had sex. The only thing you could get from his hand is if he picked up germs you could get a virus. Like a cold. Not a STD.

It is considered as sex. And you can only get an STD if his hand had a CUT OR SORE ON IT.

Sex is usually considered as penetration, so I would not consider what you did as sex.

And it is very very very very improbably (pretty much near to impossible) that you could get an STD just by touching. Even if you touched him and he had an STD and immediately touched yourself, you probably wouldn't catch anything. However, there are some things you can catch by genital to genital contact.

Intimate contact will always have some potential risk depending on what virus or bacterial your partner has.

This is not a common way to transmit an STI though. Usually contact with fluids or infected areas are required.

Any oral to genital contact or contact with any body part that has cuts or open sores with genital, anal, oral, or other body parts with cuts or sores can transmit std's.
