This is for general information but however your cardiologist knows better.
Failing of stress test is that target heart rate was not achieved either due to disease of coronary artery disease which is unable to provide enough oxygenated blood to your heart (myocardium) or due to disease of myocardium or due to some changes in EKG during test. There are also other causes, but many cardiologist are not in favour of this test. They prefer thallium/Tc99 stress test for exact evaluation.

A common test after a failed stress test is another stress test that includes administration of a radioactive tracer administered when the patient reaches a target heart rate. It is not uncommon for people to fail a stress test with no real heart disease just changes on their ecg that make it impossible to call the test positive or negative. Perfusion images will be done to look at the blood flow to the heart to give the doctor an answer if the test is positive or negative.

It depends on why you "failed" the test and how much they were able to tell from it. Sometimes, doctors want to then do cardiac catheterization to get a better look at what the problem may be. The end result could be medications and proper exercise or even surgery. Only your doctor can really tell you. Good luck.

If I were you I would insist on an angiogram. I barely failed mine but my cardiologist insisted on my having one. Thank God. My main artery (the widow maker) was 90% blocked. As a woman, my cardiologist believes they should have an angiogram every 2 or 3 years just like certain other tests. I had no other signs or symptoms.
Check with your Doctor.

that depends on why. if you're just out of shape, you just need to exercise. if you have some heart defect or disease, you may have to take meds or have surgery. only your doctor can tell you.
