It can be. It is if it leads you to believe that everything around you was created specially for you as a sort of playground for you to do with exactly as you wish and has no intrinsic value of its own. On the other hand, if your faith leads you to believe that you're only one part of a larger system and a greater whole - the way many American Indian tribes traditionally believe - than it can be humbling and provide perspective.

Not every religion I think. But when it concerns trying to get as close to god in heaven, or with as much virgins as possible, I think it's very much an ego trip. On the other hand, when it makes people help other people that need it, it can actually be a good thing. But many times it also works out for, or is abused by the bad people who like suppression and killing.

King Solomon said, "All is VANITY, and vexation of spirit!" He was talking about EGO!
At its' worst. Ego is selfish, prideful, self-righteous and hypocritical.
At its best. It is the desire for self-expression, and gives rise to creativity and invention.

depends on the religion. ive noticed most western religions are very prideful about thier religion [no matter how much they say they arent] and will put themselves on a highhorse just because they are in thier religion....i think most of the time they dont even know they are putting themselves on a highhorse. i mean some western religion thinking just doesnt allow people to not put themselves higher then others.....like how christianity believes in god or BURN. i mean you gotta feel a little good about yourself knowing that u and "god" is gonna spend the afterlife not burning. [i used christianity because i was a ex-christian].
btw when i say "put themselves on a highhorse" i mean this kind of thinking....."your lost and i know the TRUTH." that IMMEDIATLY [whether anyone likes it or not] is putting themselves on a highhorse.
