You can certainly drink aloe vera juice that has been commercially prepared and is supposed to be 100% pure so I don't see why not. Many use the pure gel direct from the plant on cuts and other wounds, but I hadn't personally heard of anything eating the gel/pulp but I thought that maybe it is because it is quite challenging to get anything much out of it that way if your plant is quite small. But I have found a couple of links for those who are using the gel directly from the aloe vera plant itself rather than commercially produced aloe vera juice that I think it is worth looking at. The first one explains how to prepare the gel/pulp::

I think that as long as you are using the gel only and not any of the plant part itself then it should be OK.

I'm sure it's safe to eat, it's weird but since aloe Vera has medical qualities to it, I'm sure it wouldn't be poisonous, but i can't image it would taste too good though, i once had a sore near my mouth so i used a cut aloe Vera leaf and wiped some juice on the sore, then i accidentally licked my sore and the aloe Vera tasted awful, i wasn't nice.

I don't really think it is beneficial orally as it is topically. Scientifically I would air on the side of caution since there is not studies in the safety of Aloe Vera and the amount that could be considered safe orally. Basic suggestions to decrease Acid Reflux: elevate the head of your bed (aka not talking about pillows), do not eat before bed, do not consume spicy foods, avoid foods that can cause more problems with acid reflux (some have problems with alcohol), smoking cessation is key (this decreases your sphincter tone), take an antacid (OTC-Prilosec once daily in the morning 30 minutes BEFORE breakfast). I would also see your doctor to diagnosis your problem properly (since it may not just be acid reflux). Take care!

I'm not sure about eating it raw, but my grandma used to take the aloe vera pulp, and then boil it with some honey.
That tastes much better than if you eat it raw and by itself, and it made a great snack too.

I've always known its qualities for topical use .....but if one wanted to eat a small portion of the fresh meat of aloe vera .....don't think it would be deadly per say .....
