if your dog is injected with anti rabies would it really take out the rabies virus on the dog?forever???

what i'm trying to say is if i got bitten by my dog would i have rabies because it is vaccinated last year april so i was wondering if the rabies in the dog are gone

the vaccine is effective for about 5 or more years. However, most states require the shots be given every 3 years, and a few states require every year..(totally a vet-makes- money lobby)

Rabies is a virus.

The vaccine is actually a modified form of rabies itself - it doesn't give the dog the disease, what it does is teaches the dog's immune system to recognise the disease so that if it encounters it in the future it can deal with it (the dog will not get rabies)

So no, if your dog is up to date on his rabies vaccine (needs to be given yearly), he cannot contract the disease or pass it on.

Geeeeeeeeeeezus...dogs don't HAVE rabies & vacc's STOP it,the vaccine PREVENTS them from CATCHING it from some animal that DOES!!!

Don't you know ANYTHING about VIRUSES & VACCINES???
They PREVENT-***NOT*** "cure"!!!!
