I just moved in to a new apartment complex and I've seen a guy around who lives there who is attractive to me, and we've exchanged a few smiles and hello's, but he's a stranger and I know nothing about him other than he lives in my complex. He could be married or living with a girlfriend, but I've never seen him with a woman. I am interested in getting to know him better, but fear the constant reminder of seeing him if it doesn't work out. Should I try to approach him or should I leave it alone?

Observe a little while longer. I worked as an administrative assistant at an apt. complex and trust me, all u have to do is sit back and watch the times he leaves or the times he is coming home in the evenings. You never know if someone is already there or if they come in together unless he make an advance toward you. I would say just check him out and your surroundings for like a month or two. If u don't see any unusual activity coming in and out of his apt (live in woman/wife/booty call) then I would approach.

Exchanging smiles and hellos with strangers can simply mean just being friendly. It often occurs in apartment complexes. I would leave things alone until you know a little more about him.

I would approach him and introduce your self to him and then ask him a few questions. Then see if he would want to go to your apartments or to his so that you guys can sit down and then get to know each other and then that way you can find out if he is your type or just another guy that likes you for your looks. That what my girlfriend did to me when we first meet but we went to the park by my house and got to know each other.

I think I would just make small talk w/ him when you see him.
If you've got a pool, go out there by yourself, and if you see him chit chat w/ him that way, or by the mail boxes or whatever.
I think I'd try to find out a little bit more about him, on the sly, before actually persuing it.
