I don't remember reading where Jesus stood up for other religions. Everyone has a right to believe what they want what but I would not stand up for them and say they were correct doing so. That's like pushing them down the road to hell without a warning that there belief is taking them in that direction. But the warning does not have to be rude or filled with anger. All people deserve respect and kindness.

I think that you can defend someone who is being wronged, without sharing there beliefs. I think that if Christians are to ever convert people, they have to first behave in such a way that people respect. To defend someone who thinks and believes differently than you do is love. But wouldn't true Christians already know that? Just because a man says he is Christian doesn't make it so, it is by a mans actions that he shall be judged by.

I'm not sure defend is the word I would use.
I will treat people with respect, but I am called to speak the truth of Jesus Christ. I try to do without attacking others...I usually just state what I believe and pray that others see the truth in it.
As you stated, our Lord said to love our enemies, but that does not mean condoning wrong behavior or beliefs.
He told the woman caught in adultery that he would not condemn like the pharisees who accused her, but that she should go and sin no more.
I will continue to do the same on R&S. I will invite others to live to that standard Jesus set for us and I will share it without judgement or condemnation.

I do not ask what religion someone is when I defend someone. If that someone is correct in their actions or views, then I defend that. If they are incorrect , then I tell them so. One of my best friends is a Wiccan Priestis and I am a Roman Catholic. She is a good person who I would defend to the hilt.

I'm up for it if If I see it. There is something wonderful to be said for tolerance and the live and let live sayings...that leads to peace and harmony...so long as no believe is trying to kill others etc then just because they have different beliefs does not give us the right to hate on them..we are all different in ways..every one of us.

Some attacks are just retarded and don't need a response. But if one is needed, I am more than happy to defend against a wrongful accusation.

Religious people shouldn't have to defend themselves against anybody. I just say believe what you want and I'll do the same and we'll find out who was right when it's all over. So, there you go.

Understand a simple thing - ignorance created religion - does it matter if ignorant people are needed to defend it? Yes - only when they prove to be combative which flies in the face of their own teachings

Who cares what and if you are religious or not. It is a personal choice. We can learn from children, they don't ask, what religion an other child has before playing with it.
