Because many people treat God like a genie in a bottle. We set Him on a shelf, then, when we run into trouble, we grab that bottle and try to make God do what we want. We don't want Him butting into our lives, expecting us to do stuff for Him. We want Him to be some divine bellhop, jumping up to answer our every need. And when we mess up, we want Him to sort it all out, and make things right again. We think that just because we call ourselves a Christian, that life should be a breeze. If we studied the Bible, we'd find out that trouble happens to everyone, and not just when you do bad stuff. Sometimes bad stuff happens when you're being good. Why? I don't know, but I trust that God does. It's all part of God's plan, that He's had worked out way before you and I were born. We're all part of His plan. Our job is to study His word, and follow Him, being a good testimony for Him. Learn to pray every morning and every night. It will bring you closer to Him, and you will find that it gets you through the tough times a little better. <*)))><

I pray to God all the time. I also thank him when something is going wrong for me, because I know that he is teaching me something. I talk to him during the day, not just at night when I lay down to sleep. I think of God as my best friend. I think alot of people see God as a Judge sitting up high in the sky, and they only talk to him when they are trying to get out of trouble.I guess if you think of God as a friend you tend to talk to him more ofter, not just when you are pleading for mercy.

When we are afraid to deal with the consequences of our own actions, or the situation we find ourselves in.....we tend to reach out to our Higher Power for assistance.
When everything is going our way.....we tend to believe that we are in full control and have no need for the assistance of a Higher Power.

i have to stay in constant contact through prayer and meditation on a daily basis. This allows me to be grateful during the good times, and graceful through the tough times.
