One last question about my marriage. Can anyone guess what my last name will be? My fiance is a converted muslim as am I from Nigeria. That should make it a little bit easier. But still, I highly doubt anyone will be able to guess this. Good luck!
And to make this a religious question, how do you feel about people who convert to Islam? So many like to say Islam oppresses women, so how do you explain the large number of female converts? It can't be that most women like domination and all that other bull, because I certainly don't and refuse to put up with it. So what other reason could there be for women of all backgrounds and cultures for converting to Islam, a religion that as told by propagandists and haters, supposedly oppresses us?

And to the one who says I'm insecure, I could just as easily say the same of all of those who bash and insult. If you are so secure and are strong in your faith, why feel the need to insult? You must not be that strong if you feel the need to let Satan speak for you.

Muslim women are accorded a very secondary and inferior status to Muslim men. There are not "large numbers" of female converts to the life of disrespect, disregard and OPPRESSION that you lead. If you, personally, are happy to live your life as a piece of property, that your husband can beat, betray, and discard at will, then you should seek psychiatric help. That is, if your husband will allow you to do it.

I don't have a clue what your last name will be.
As to large numbers converting to Islam ... it could be for any number of reasons, not just one, ... but I haven't seen the numbers, so I am skeptical.

I would guess that you keep your own name, but I don't know.
As to converts. I guess maybe the men are handsome liars that a women in love is foolish enough to believe. Once she wakes up, it will be too late.

I don't know. What does the last name signify in Islam?
Is the fact that you are from Nigeria significant to the fact that your fiance has converted? Are they from Nigeria too?
I still don't think that it is good to "refuse to put up with" rubbish. The Bible tells us to turn the other cheek.
I'm still trying to figure the text out, but Jesus did say that his kingdom is no part of this world. Besides that, the apostle Peter said to dwell as strangers in reverent fear in 1 Peter 1:17. This is followed up by his advice to women in 3:1-6:
1 Wives, in the same way submit yourselves to your own husbands so that, if any of them do not believe the word, they may be won over without words by the behavior of their wives, 2 when they see the purity and reverence of your lives. 3 Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as elaborate hairstyles and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. 4 Rather, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight. 5 For this is the way the holy women of the past who put their hope in God used to adorn themselves. They submitted themselves to their own husbands, 6 like Sarah, who obeyed Abraham and called him her lord. You are her daughters if you do what is right and do not give way to fear.
Here is some reading concerning the difference between wisdom (personified as a woman - I think it's because women are second generation removed from the earth according to the Bible - man was made from the earth and woman was made from man) and folly, also personified as a woman.
Proverbs chapters 8 and 9
I'll quote chapter 9.
1 Wisdom has built her house;
she has set up [a] its seven pillars.
2 She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine;
she has also set her table.
3 She has sent out her servants, and she calls
from the highest point of the city,
4 "Let all who are simple come to my house!"
To those who have no sense she says,
5 "Come, eat my food
and drink the wine I have mixed.
6 Leave your simple ways and you will live;
walk in the way of insight."
7 Whoever corrects a mocker invites insults;
whoever rebukes the wicked incurs abuse.
8 Do not rebuke mockers or they will hate you;
rebuke the wise and they will love you.
9 Instruct the wise and they will be wiser still;
teach the righteous and they will add to their learning.
10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,
and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
11 For through wisdom [b] your days will be many,
and years will be added to your life.
12 If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you;
if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.
13 Folly is an unruly woman;
she is simple and knows nothing.
14 She sits at the door of her house,
on a seat at the highest point of the city,
15 calling out to those who pass by,
who go straight on their way,
16 "Let all who are simple come to my house!"
To those who have no sense she says,
17 "Stolen water is sweet;
food eaten in secret is delicious!"
18 But little do they know that the dead are there,
that her guests are deep in the realm of the dead.

I am glad if you are happy. I will assume you know what you are doing. There must be something I don't see, but if you do, and it suits you. that's wonderful.
I hope you can feel the same way about my choice.

I don't have the slightest clue as to your future last name, but I know why *I*reverted to Islam.
And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves that you may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts); verily in that are signs for those who reflect. [ Quran 30:21 ]
Islam brought women from the position of chattel in marriage to that of equal partners. In the matter of divorce, she changed from a completely impotent bystander, to one who could initiate divorce proceedings and claim her rights of dowry and inheritance. From a position of legal nonetity, she became a legal personality in the full sense of the term, able to hold property, entitled to a just share of her husband's and family's inhereitance property. Socially, with education equally required of her as well as of every man by Islam, she rose to a position of social and cultural influences and service. Even in religio-cultic practices and duties, woman was asked and expected to play a role equal to that of man, insofar as her special physical characteristics and maternal duties allowed.
By the way, my Dad thinks I'm opressed. DOH!!!
