Diets fail! The weight comes off and stays off only as long as you are on the diet. Look at weight loss in terms of a *lifestyle change*.
Drink a glass of water a few minutes before eating, and reconsider your hunger state. A lot of hunger pangs are actually your body asking for water. Drink tons of water, no less than a half gallon a day (shoot for a full gallon), because proper hydration is necessary for burning body fat.
Eat only when you're truly hungry, several times a day. Think more like five or six small meals daily, so your metabolism doesn't sink and your blood sugar stays steadier.
Eat meals about the size of a loosely closed fist which is the natural and unstretched size of a stomach. If you’re eating out, eat only half of your food, and take home the other half.
Eat natural, whole foods. Stay away from processed, prepackaged stuff, if possible.
Eat very slowly. It takes your brain about 20 minutes to realize when the stomach is full.
Do not drink sodas! Your body has a harder time metabolizing high fructose corn syrup (it’s everywhere - look for it in anything sweet, and even things such as spaghetti sauce), so its calories are more likely to be stored as fat.
Do cardio, brisk walking (be sure to break a sweat) for example, for at *least* 30 minutes a day. Be sure to do some strength training (i.e. weights, pilates, calisthenics, bands, etc.), because you want to gain muscle which increases your basal metabolic rate. Strength training should be done in a way that the worked muscles get a day of rest after each workout, so they may repair and build.
I swear by this method, and it's not difficult to follow. The weight will fall off fast, and stay off. Best of luck to you.

I hate diets! They're short-term and hard to get through. I think what works best is a lifestyle change, like changing your eating and exercise habits permanently. You probably won't see drastic and immediate weight loss with this, but it's slow and effective in the long run. As for exercise find one that you like and allow yourself some variety so you won't be coming up with excuses to avoid them. Also allow yourself some food indulgences once in a while, but just don't over-do it. If you think you've overeaten just try to turn that gulit to positive energy and exercise a little more that day/week.

I lost 25lbs in 4 months by eating more!! Okay, by eating 6 SMALL meals a day and making sure those meals had at least two veggies and one fruit. I did watch my fat and calorie intake to an extent but I still ate at McDonalds, BK, and Taco Bell. I found the trick was to eat more and drink lots of water. I also cut way down on the soda. I love tea so I would make a pot of tea at night and refridge it so it would be cold the next day. I would sweeten it with just enough sugar. Good Luck!!

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
dont try to lose more than 1-2lbs a week - its not healthy to lose more.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried - no junk food.

just doing a good walk in the morning increases your metabolism for several hours, after that it's about eating right and regular exercise. no do not go to the gym everyday but try to go at least three times a week. if you cannot afford the gym do a workout at home. pilates, tae-bo, or just go to a search engine and look for simple calorie burning exercises, but if you can and your willing, run.......just run well jog if your not that fast.

It's as simple as lowering your intake and increasing your output - eat less, exercise more. There is no need for strict dieting if you watch your calories.

The answer lies in altering your lifestyle. For example make it a habit to eat healthy and exercise. You don't have to give up desserts altogether but they should be enjoyed only ocassionally.
Eating alterations means to stop eating what most people do and geting yourself used to eat alternatives. For example wheat bread, wheat rice, bran flakes, 2% milk, splenda sugar ocassionally, black coffee, low fat desserts, etc....
