200 plus rounds of ammo discharged over a 3hr period, with a handgun??
After listening to you Americans wa*k on about protecting your 'stupid' gun laws and the need to be armed to protect etc.....what good is all that 'hooprah' if an untrained 'student' of all things can wreak that much havoc for so long and virtually unchecked?
This is not a shot at Americans valour as the taking down of the flight in Washington(!?) during 9/11 is an inspiring story of courage.
Your thoughts please America?

Okay, Woodyhou, yeah I was aware there'd be harsh responses - thanks anyway.
Donww, no you're not a mind reader are you....I don't dislike America, but its gun laws, you're trying too hard :)
I am aware the campus had banned guns - so he was obviously the 'only' one too disobey?
The point of my question is that a country that professes rights to protect, and 'we can' and 'all should have' guns outlook(& lets face it, how many of ya's have got them?), with so many 'experts', how come no-one stopped him? what good are open access laws for guns if you can't control 'or' combat them when things go wrong. You'll lose hundreds if a trained 'freak' goes crazy with machine guns.

The question is at no point aimed directly or soley at the students?, what about the schools secuirity or the police? I'm talking about Americans as a whole. If you're all so 'aware' and 'confident' about guns, how come you seemed to be sorely lacking in those tragic hours?
The German example is interesting....at Columbine then, what difference did your gun laws make? Should you not tighten the laws restricting how many and the types you can have and the reasons you want them...you know...'controlled'

The tragedy of yesterday was just that, a tragedy. The unfortunate thing is that a person, who by current news is here on a Visa, got access to a few guns and killed a lot of people. This has re-sparked the debate over gun control. Those among us who believe that if there were no guns allowed in society this would not have happened seem to forget that there are no guns allowed on the campus of VT. That rule did not stop a crazed individual from exacting terror among those who were unable to protect themselves. News accounts also indicate that the campus security does not carry weapons.

Many news organizations from around the world are chiming in and blaming what happened on the lack of gun control in America. These countries ignore the fact that even though they have strict gun control laws, they have gun crimes and murders.

Can someone point out the logic in saying that overly lax gun laws are to blame and then pointing out that STRICT gun control laws in Germany have not stopped gun attacks in two schools there? At least Germany recognizes that gun control does not work and that is because criminals do not obey the law. Once again, the guy who killed everyone yesterday was not allowed to have a gun on campus. Rules are only effective when people obey them.
if guns were outlawed.
Only criminals will have guns, as the law can not stop them.
This is just a cold hard fact. Responsible people who own guns do not go around shooting people. We have nearly 50 thousand deaths a year from vehicle accidents but we do not demand they take cars away. We demand that people who use cars irresponsibly be denied the right to drive.
Laws only work for people who obey them. It is illegal to rob a bank but people rob banks. It is illegal to use cocaine (and it has no use except very limited medical) and yet people use cocaine all the time. That is outlawed so where are they getting it? Same place criminals get guns and will continue to get guns regardless of the number of laws making it illegal.

What happened at VT was a horrible tragedy and my heart goes out to he families and friends of the victims but let us focus on the real issue here. It was not a firearm that committed a crime there. It was a person determined to kill people. If guns were not available, he would have found another method. Put the blame where it belongs, on the individual. I know that is hard considering the liberal idea that no one is responsible for anything (except George Bush).

God Bless VT and those affected by this CRIMINAL act.

Because VT was a "gun free zone". That means only the criminals are armed. You might call it "stupid" to have the means to protect yourself. I don't. Have you ever said 'Where's a cop when you need him?" I call cops to pick up the corpse of the criminal trying to hurt me or my family. I don't have my friends, neighbors or family call the cops to have me hauled off in a body bag.

This guy went unchecked for so long because those students didn't have anyway to protect themselves. If the state had allowed those students to conceal carry that guy would not have killed 32 people. He might have got one or two but that is it. Someone would have taken him out.

The lesson is? Gun control kills. Gun control = mass murder.

First of all you are going to get a lot of harsh responses for attacking America with our "stupid" gun laws. Second of all I don't understand your slang and have no idea what your question is.

(kidding. entire sarcasm) And Ymmo! maximum cases you will desire to be invited with the aid of a VT, i became into, so which you're invited! upload the VT on your call in case you elect!

are we mind readers.....sit down and think about how hard it would be for anyone, anywhere in the world, to go on a killing spree...guy shoots two people,I'm guessing no one saw a thing, than after laying low for two hours walks into campus building and starts to shoot it up...how difficult is that if you think about it...I know you dislike america but this could happen anywhere and my god I believe it has.........

I think everyone in the U.S. should carry concealed fire arms...the good would out weigh the bad and that student wouldn't have killed as many as he did.
