Why did the amazing miracles stop?

Don't get me wrong, I believe in miracles. I know they happen everyday and I'm thankful that so many people are saved by them. But whatever happened to bringing people back from the dead or healing a person just by touching their skin. Why did all of the really big miracles seem to stop after Jesus's death? Just because he is in heaven, doesn't mean any of his power is taken away. at least thats what i believe

In our church we have had a man raised from the dead, several people cured from cancer, a few people start walking after being crippled, we even had a woman who was deaf from birth receive her hearing. It has not stopped, I think we are about to see many more in the coming years. Jesus said that we will do greater miracles. All it takes is a little faith. The bible says that these signs shall follow those who believe. If you don't believe then it won't happen.

I have heard of "big" miracles although I have never seen one happen to anyone but you can search the web and there are accounts of them. I know in the Bible Christ even says He could do few miracles in some towns because of a lack of faith - Mark 6:5&6 - (not to say this is the reason for today necessarily). I believe miracles are completely at God's will. But the Bible does say to desire the spiritual gifts. I have wondered too why there is not the outpouring of "big" miracles as was seen by the apostles after Christ's resurrection (but maybe there are, I don't know). Maybe because the Church is now established, maybe because we now have the written Word of God where the early Church did not have the written New Testament. I don't know. There are so many things we don't know but can trust Christ, in all His Wisdom, that He knows everything. There are miracles though, as you say, they happen every day.

Miracles have stopped because the scripture is complete.

In my studies of the scriptures I have come to believe that miracles were God's divine seal so to speak to indicate that the prophet and the prophet's message are from God. They are there as an authentication mechanism. If miracles did not occur how can we know the difference between a prophet and a madman? How can we know the message sent by the prophet is truly from God versus Satan? If God brings forth miracles through a prophet it means that the message the prophet sends is very important and great attention should be given to the message this prophet sends.
I think the defining mark of a true miracle is one that goes against the established laws that govern this universe to show that only God can do something as this. For instance Jesus walked on water which goes against the laws of gravity. Raising someone from the dead is a miracle. Changing the water into wine is a miracle. No man in and of himself can accomplish these tasks since we are all under God's physical laws. Hence by these miracles we can truly know whether or not a prophet is sent from God.

Here is an example in the scripture of how Jesus demonstrated to John the Baptist that his message "Blessed is he who is not offended because of me" is the truth.

Luke 7:20-23 When the men had come to Him, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to You, saying, ‘Are You the Coming One, or do we look for another?’” 21 And that very hour He cured many of infirmities, afflictions, and evil spirits; and to many blind He gave sight.
22 Jesus answered and said to them, “Go and tell John the things you have seen and heard: that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them. 23 And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me.”

John 3:2 "This man came to Jesus by night and said to Him, “Rabbi, we know that You are a teacher come from God; for no one can do these signs that You do unless God is with him.”

Revelation 22:18 effectively seals off any further revelation from God and hence there is no more further need for miracles since there are no more prophets that will come with a divine message from God. If they do they are in violation of Revelation 22:18. We can know that everything God wants to say to mankind is within the books of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation.

Because you, personally, haven't seen it?
Because CNN hasn't reported it, or you haven't seen it in a newspaper?
Christians are reporting BIG miracles all the time, but most people who weren't there brush their tales off with a shrug, because we "know" that such things don't happen.
That's exactly the way it was when Jesus was walking among us......

They haven't stopped. They were never being done out in public, Hun...if they had been, every one would have believed in Jesus. They weren't being done on a huge scale, it only seems to to us, because we don't read about all the people who died in Jesus' day that He did not raise, or all the people who were sick that did not get healed. Jesus Himself said something similar, if you'll recall.

they didnt stop! people are being healedtoday as much as during the time of Jesus...so many missonaries tell about how God raises people from the dead just when they touch them and say in the name of Jesus! handicap people are getting healed, it still happens today...a really great book you can read that has so many miracles is The Million Mile Foundation by tony abram (missionary) you can also visit his website at abundantlifecrusades.com

People come back from the dead every day. Who's to say that God isn't doing miracles like that anymore. I saw a boy who's right foot (was three inches shorter than his left foot), expand and grow. His mother took him to the doctor that very same day and sure enough his foot was perfectly normal and at the same length as the other foot. He was three years old and had been born like that. They were my next door neighbors.

Where have you been? That's all I have seen most of my Christian life it God perform miracles just like in the bible. God has used me in healing miracles for the last 11 years. Broken bones instantaneously healed, cancer, tumors, and other sicknesses. My god daughter had leukemia. Her mother brought her to me, because the disease required a bone marrow tap. She brought her to me to pray for and God healed her completely. The doctor was so amazed that he said she was perfectly healthy and did not need surgery. Lastly, a lady I knew who owned a laundry mat had burned her face severely. I came to see her and she was crying with black and bluish burns all over her face. She told me what had happened. I had tears in my eyes because of what I saw. But the Lord said to pray for her. I saw her again 3 days later and her face was completely healed. There was not evidence she had ever been burned.

I believe it's because people are so consumed with doing what feels good to them. that we as christian's have lost our focus. before Jesus went to heaven he gave us the authority to teach the good news,heal the sick,cast out demons (matthew 28:19,20 and mark 16:16-19) people have just become so mellow. Well, just like the disciples the power of Christ is supposed to dwell within those who believe in him, if a person is born again and filled with the power of the holy spirit they are supposed to be able to, through the power of God, receive anything they ask for in the name of Jesus as long as it is in the will of God. What is missing is faith, faith of the person praying, and faith of the person needing to receive. I received healing in my back, but had to pray for quite a while beforehand for the faith to receive the healing.
