My puppy is about seven months old. I dont know if she's going through "puberty" but her genetials are slightly enlarged? I've never had a pet before so i'm not quite sure if this is normal or not. I just want to make sure that she doesnt have some sort of infection or any other health issues....

She is going into her season (heat cycle)... If it is her first.. keep an eye on her if she is an indoor dog.. One of mine ate my $1800 vacuum cords, attachments, brushes and hose.. chewed them up into little pieces... while I slept.

Good Luck

Yup, sounds like she's going into heat. Please be very careful with her until her cycle ends which can be 2-3 weeks. She'll have a discharge (like a menstrual cycle) then when the spotting stops, she'll get even larger & start looking for a male. And you'll probably notice males coming around because they can smell her. And they are sleazy little critters at this time & will find any way possible to find a male. Don't leave her out in a fenced yard thinking that it'll be safe as males have been known to get to females through fences & she'll help him. After all the swelling is gone, get her in to get her spayed so you won't have to deal with this again plus the medical benefits are huge. No unwanted pups & less of a chance of cancer. Please keep a close eye on her.

Your dog is in heat. They can go into heat as early as 5 months. Get her spayed ASAP.

The first heat increases the risk of masticular cancer.
The first litter TRIPLES that rate.
Every litter a dog has takes approximately a year off of their lives. (Puppy mill dogs that genetically should live to be 15 are ancient and dying at only 5 or 6)

You need to get your vet to look at her. Sounds like she could be going in to heat (have you noticed any blood, like she's having a period?). It's best to get her fixed when she's not in heat (it's cheaper). Either way though, any questions on your pet, you should ask your vet since they are the ones who can actually look at your pet and tell you what's wrong.

Sounds like she is going into season.. SHould get her spayed as soon as she comes out.. If you don't the terminology and don't know the signs, haven't read a thing about dogs, then you need to have her spayed..

She has probably come in heat for the first time. Please take her to your Vet for confirmation. Also, please consider having her spade. A steralized dog is a happy dog and helps reduce the thousands of unwanted dogs in our country. I volunteer with a dog rescue group and we spay and neuter all the dogs that come through our program. Nor do we allow adoption to people who have other intact dogs in their home.

Most likely. I would take her to the vet though.
