I found some pills that I've never seen before. I don't know where they came from or what they are. they are small and yellow with an imprint code RX 736. What are they?

I am concerned for what they are since I found them in my six year olds room. I won't throw them away in case I find her sick and I need to show them to someone.

I believe that the pills you found are benazepril (a generic form of Lotensin) which is an antihypertensive drug (For high blood pressure). They are round with kind of a ring around the outside. One side has RX and 736 on it, and the other side is blank. There is no score mark down the middle.

As far as I know there is no reason to take them other than curiosity or thinking they are candy (can't get high). The peak effect (low blood pressure) would be 2-4 hours after taking them. If you suspect some were ingested, I'd advise you to call the National Poison Control Center at 1-800-222-1222. They have the best information, and could help you make an identification.

Keep the pills, and don't wait to identify them. If I were you, and thought there was a possibility that your child took them, I would take him/her to the doc immediately, just to be on the safe side. They will help you identify the pills and also, when asked by another adult, a child might disclose more. :) No worries, just be thorough and make sure to follow up with what happened.

With that marking,I believe it's the antibiotic Clarithromycin tablets (and extended-release tablets). Go to Drugs.com (Pill Identifier) or Wallsrx from now on if you find something you need to identify. :)

Throw them out immediately. DO NOT EAT ANY UNIDENTIFIED DRUGS. Just throw them out before someone else gets to them, maybe your kid(s) or pet(s), if you have either. It would be way safer to throw them out than to rather leave them lying around the house where anyone can get to them.
