Usually DVD players don't have the coaxial (cable) inputs and outputs but rather have a video/audioleft/audioright outputs that go to the TV.

You need RCA cables to connect to TV, these are the Yellow/Red/White cables that I'm sure you've seen. You can buy them very cheap at a store like Walmart or Target. These are color coded on both the DVD player and the TV input, so just connect these from DVD output to TV input and switch your TV to the 'input' that you plugged the cables into on the back of your TV.

You need what are known as RCA cables .. there will be a red , white , and yellow male end on each end of the cable ..
If your TV is an older one there's a good chance you might not have the RCA inputs on it and you Will need to get an RF modulator . you can pick those up at walmart cheap and if you didn't get cables with the DVD player you will need them to .. that will hook up to the back of the DVD and then to the modulator , then from the modulator it will have the cable connection like your used to ..
other stores carry them too but if you dont have the 3 plugs at the back of your tv thats what you'll need
