I'm a "top contributor" in "Internet" and "Mathematics". If I don't know the answers off the top of my head, I do research and figure them out. I've gotten sick of that stupid pic in the e-mail that Y! Answers sends every time my answer is picked as the best answer.

Aside from this, I vote exclusively on questions in the "Religion and Spirituality" category, despite the fact that I have aptitude for neither religion nor spirituality.

Am I pathetic? How much so? Should I be doing something more productive? Or should I maybe just be out enjoying life in the real world?

If you are really helping people with your answers, I'd say that you're not wasting your time.

People that ARE just wasting their time here are those that always give wise-crack answers and never anything requiring serious thought. Also, those that just (personally) insult others by calling them stupid, ignorant etc are also wasting their time.

You and me both, brother (pathetic). But then, now that I have Y!A I don't sit down to play solitaire EVER! When I want to have a break from the kids/housework, I come here.

By the way, are you the same Q that had your pic as Q (from Star Trek), too? If so, some of your answers even sound like the Q. Cool man.

While I answer questions in other Yahoo! forums, I stick mainly with Religion and Spirituality. I might say I'm a bit addicted to this as well, even though people really rag my religion (LDS).

There are better things for me to do, but right now I'm trying to eventually reach level 6. So there are a bunch of us pathetic creatures aboard!

I cringe at the juvenile and asinine questions, but my pulse quickens at an intelligent question. Yours is a good one too.

If you are pathetic for always being on yahoo answers, then so am I. I am not a top contributor for any category but yahoo answers is a good place to go when I am bored and need some brain activity.

I think we live in a world with an infinite amount of entertainment and information.

The question then becomes, what will you allow into your life that adds value? All information is not the same, some adds value most does not.

Stick with the things that you think are adding value to your life and remove the things that are not.

The bright shiny disk in the sky is frightening, isn't it?
This is an addiction. Obsessive/ compulsive behavior. The NEXT hit will do it. Like crack, but with 1s and 0s.
The first step is admitting you have a problem. The next step is out the door.

You sound like me. So, why do we do this? To attempt to spread a bit of wisdom, and in this forum to lead people away from superstitious nonsense and toward intelligent consideration of the evidence. Is it worth while? So far, I've scored two converts, and that is doing better than I expected.
