Has anyone ever tried this? What exactly does it do? Have you ever tried any of the at home kits and how good are they?

I use it on a regular basis. I love my face after I do it. It is smooth and has a wonderful glow.

What it does is shave off the top most layer of skin cells...which contains your dead compacted cells. As soon as you remove those layers, your skin automatically reproduces replacement cells....which is at the newer layer of course. So what does that leave you with? More plump, new, healthy skin cells.

When you do this process on a regular basis, you are left with healthier skin and less of the dry, compacted, top layer.

The one thing you have to be careful with is you need a sunscreen! You need to protect those new skin cells.

I use BeautiControl's version...which is Oprah's #1 choice for at home treatments. One set will cost you the same or less then one professional session. And will give you less irritation and no risk for potential scarring. (which I've heard from clients that have had the procedure done)

Hope that helps!

I do microderm in the salon

it takes away dead skin, acne scars, fine lines and wrinkles
but you have to do it fairly often for maximum effect

the at home kits are not as effective

we use fine crystals that pound the face like a sand blaster
there are two hoses.. one for dispersing the crystals and one for sucking up the used crystals from the face

if you have active acne you should not consider doing these treatments until you are no longer active
what happens is the bacteria will spread onto other parts of the healthy skin

Yes and it works if used correctly. How it works is tiny crystals that are ground into teeny tiny particles and mixed with a softening cream of some kind, are then blended onto the top surface of your skin and exfoliating it. You can "burn" your skin easily if you're aggressive but the results can be amazing. I had a scar on cheek since I was eight years old, and now its gone.

Yeah i used one, I have acne prone skin and I guess it didn't work. It just opened up more pores and i got more pimples. I used DermaNew, if you want to use microdermabrasion I suggest you actually go to a beauty salon or wherever they use it. It's a bit more expensive but you'll probobly have better skin if you went to them? I don't know that's just my opinion.
