I was playing with an Italian man that told me to stop tipping. He said the dealers didn't get the tips. All of the tips went to Norwegian. I asked two different dealers (one with the pit boss around, the other without) and neither would answer the question.

Not just cruise ships any casino the tips are split among every employee (1000 employees you tip the cigar girl $100 everybody gets a dime ) and its the law belive it or not

There are very few casinos where the dealer keeps their own tips. Most places (probably cruises) pool their tips and all of the dealers for that shift make said amount, divided up of course. People are ignorant on the fact that dealers want to take your money. Most, if not all, want you to win so you will tip them. Unless you're an asshole who won't tip.

it depends on the cruise line, if you go on the website and look under employment you can usually find out. Often people in direct service, like a casino dealer or host will keep tips, but it could be split between all the casino staff.
I worked as a rec instructor then cruise staff for Royal Carribbean, I kept all my tips and the company expected I would. My salary was a bit low because they expected me to keep tips.

Unlike Las Vegas, cruise ships have their own rules. I would bet the tips, better known as tokes, were pooled by all staff working that shift and not solely enjoyed by the dealer who received them.

When I worked on a cruise ship 3 years ago w/Carnival I kept my tips. We are paid a small amount per hour.
