Food! We received all these great cooking utensils, pots and pans, etc. but no food to cook. It sounds strange, but a gift certificate to a local grocery store or a subscription to some sort of food service would have been something we never thought of. Amazon has subscribe and save and you can purchase subscriptions to food, staples (tissues, etc) and lots of other great stuff. What's better than not having to go buy toilet paper??? Another gift idea is a membership to a local organization, museum etc. or you could offset their CO2 emissions for their honeymoon.

I'm getting married in less than 4 mts.
And to be honest with you at this point i'd prefer a gift card, or cash. I know it's not proper to ask for money so obviously i haven't, but it's what i'd prefer.
My fiance and i are spending a ton of cash on the wedding and i'd prefer gift cards to say walmart or target, someplace where we can get things we need every day.
Not just some toaster i registered for because i need to have a bunch of things on a registry for people to pick from.
So maybe think about even a gift card for a nice restaurant. Someplace your friends wanna go, but never go to because it's a lil more expensive.
If not, talk to your friend, see what they really want. Sometimes they do a registry for their honeymoon. Where you can give money to pay for their honeymoon as a gift.
So i'd look into that if i were you.
Good Luck!

When my sister & her partner got married they really wanted a foot spa which they didnt get as people thought it was too weird to buy as a wedding gift!!
My partner & I are getting married in 6 months & to tell the truth we dont really need anything or want anything so we are asking people not to bring anything, but sometimes people just feel the need to so we are asking for certificates to our honeymoon destination. Things like swimming with the sharks/dolphins, bungy jumping, white water rafting, a quiet dinner for two, mountain climbing, massage (gonna need it after that mountain!!) or even some cash to put towards paying for the resorts.
If you really just want to give them a gift, then are they plant/tree people? You could get them a tree that they can watch grow as their life grows :o)
Ummm how about something for their bedroom like a nice linin set? Ummmmm a really nice candelabra with some wicked candles? Ummmmmm, my sisters friend gave her a photo album/scrap book for her shower & it had all her fav things (like pics of chocolate, the beach, rainforests, cats & spas etc) and photos from over the years as well as memorable stories. At the end of the book was a 'chapter' for the courting period before she married her husband. Was a beautiful idea & sits proudly in my sisters bookshelf :o) Another friend gave her a photo frame with several pics of her & her hubby. Very sweet.
You could also have a look online at other peoples registries to get more of an idea of what people are asking for.

Gift cards or money are always a safe bet, but if you want to buy a gift, high quality sheets are always good, a nice vase or photo album. Most people got me practical gifts, like toasters and kitchen gadgets. I would have liked more things I wouldn't have bought for myself. One of the best gifts was a basket of lotions, towels, candles and bath products.

I can tell you our most used gifts - the "best" one in this category overall was a big electric frying pan - had no idea we would use it so much, but it's big enough to make almost anything in - from chili, to stir frys, just to cooking up a big batch of eggs or french toast. Also really appreciated towels and sheet sets - some people think they are too boring to give, but they are not!
Also really liked getting things like crystal serving pieces, something like that we would not buy for ourselves.

Money is always good for newlyweds. I really enjoyed the gift card to the kitchen supply store we received.

Our towels. Seriously. It feels silly to go and buy them for yourself when the ones you have are worn but still in serviceable shape, but we did it anyway. However, it would have felt like a real luxury to get the new towels without having to go buy them ourselves.

Money. Seriously it has helped out a lot. Sure the cheese grater was nice, but the money helped up buy things we really needed...like a diningroom table.

This is the lamest thing ever and so cliche.....but we didn't get our blender! So we were going to make margaritas the other night...NO BLENDER?!?! We were sure someone would get it for us, but no one did! You probably don't want to get them something so cliche, but seriously, make sure they have one! :) I think its great that you're putting so much thought into their gift.
