Well I got Engaged on the 16th of last month, and I am ready to set a date for the wedding, but my fiancee' doesnt want to even talk about it, heck or even mention the word's wedding, or marriage. I know hes a little bit alter shy, but everyone keeps asking us if we have set the date, and I keep saying no, and well we always get this look, or someone will say, he must not love you or he would be in a hurry to get married, but I know he loves me....I have an idea for a wedding date, but the only thing we have decided on is that it is probably going to be a fall wedding, and outside, but no date, or year has been talked about. So any ideas on how to bring the subject up kind of by accident, or just in passing?

Why did he propose to you if he won't set a date? You need to have a serious talk about whether or not he wants to be with you forever or not. I suspect he may have proposed because he felt pressured, in which case you need to accept his time frame or move on,

no, you have to have a serious talk.
consider just telling him the date you want and asking if that's ok. talk about expectations for the wedding, as you may have quite different ideas of what's in store and what the issues are (especially cost). don't worry about what other people think (a lot of your question centers around how others are reacting). love is a very small part of what's required for wedding and marriage. work on communciation about things like this.

I would not try to push him or rush him in any way. That being said, I would also not want to wait until he is good and ready if I am ready now. The answer is .... You MUST discuss it reasonably, like adults. Not you prying or coercing or pushing, just a discussion of what you both want and when. Its not unreasonable. After all, this is the man that you will be spending your life with! You should be able to come to a decision on this! Don't make it out to be you wanting this and him wanting that. A calm reasonable discussion is all that is needed to set the record straight. if he is evasive or not amenable to giving a position on this, well that would say he is just not ready. Good Luck with whatever may happen!!

as i see it , he asked the question , so he wants to marry. he may be the type that does not care to be a part of the many parts of setting the wedding in motion. just be open and tell him you have a date in mind ,that may be all it takes to get a answer from him.

Yes, it takes a year to get everything done for a wedding. Tell him that you have chosen a date and all he has to do is show up.

Well, you aren't officially engaged unless you have a wedding date set, so you had better just sit him down and talk to him seriously about whether it will be happening or not.

Should not be a problem to simply talk anout it as your asking us. If he is to be your husband I would think it would be smart to start comunicating.

Cut him off until it gets fixed.
Obviously he doesn't need to get married with all the free sex.

You may just want to simply ask him why he is avoiding it.
