I think he showed how easy it is to change Catholic dogma. I wouldn't be surprised if he axes another aspect of it before he dies...time will tell...

Actually, yes, he did prove that christianity was made up. One thing that may people keep forgetting is that the bible was compiled by the Roman Catholic Church. I'm not saying that it was written completely by them, I'm saying that they are the ones that took the many books that were floating around about Jesus and decided to put some of them together and make a bible.
If the books that were used to compile the bible were anything other than moral stories integrated into the myths already in the area, if they were actually inspired by god, then the pope would have no power to absolve ANYTHING in the spiritual realm.
Christians, don't take this as a personal insult, but you all really do need to learn more about how, when, and where your beliefs originated.

I don't get it. How did the pope prove Christianity was man-made?
He didn't change any part of the Catholic faith. He only clarified something. There have been a lot of Catholics believing in something (limbo) that was never part of Catholic doctrine. He was proving that Catholicism is NOT man made, and that people can't add to the faith simply by popular belief.
God Bless.

Not many that did not believe it before.
Limbo is a non-issue for Catholics.
The Church has pondered the suggestion of Limbo for a few hundred years and has decided that it is not a good idea. Limbo was never official doctrine.
Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved." (Mark 16:15-16)
For centuries, people have wondered about children who died before they were baptized. The Bible does not explicitly state that they will go to heaven.
Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has been rejected.
The Church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.
With love in Christ.

The Pope is proving that Catholicism is a man made version of a real Christian belief.

Even if Christians *knew* the religion was man-made by time travelling and watching these guys make it up, they'd still find some way to justify their belief. Religion is not about reality, so no amount of reality can change it in a person who doesn't want to lose faith.

Christianity is not man-made. It just proves that the Catholics made up a lot of things. Why do you think the Protestants left the Catholic church. They knew better.

Actually the Orthodox and the Catholics are the only Churches that can legitimately claim not to be man made because they were started by Christ who we as Christians believe to be God. All other ecclesiastical groups are man made.

Limbo was never an official dogma of the Church. The Pope confirmed that by today's decision.
Edit:
It's always nice to see so much love and support from my "brothers and sisters" in Christ around here. How you can claim to love Jesus and hate another person who also loves Him is beyond me.

Christianity is man made and no one has ever questioned that it wasn't. Jesus Christ was a man even though he was also the messiah and the son of God.
