1. this isnt about japanese cars
2. im just wondering why ford would come up with this crap-why not a bronco that looks and acts like a bronco. or a better designed excursion? i couldnt care less if its made by the UAW gangster, a poor underpaid mexican, a french speaking canadian or a bow-legged japanese, if its a good vehicle, its a good vehicle. and if it's a great vehicle, id buy one. its very simple.

putting a ribbon on a pig is just what it is.

And people wonder why all the American car manufacturers are on the verge of bankruptcy... stupid ideas such as this...

EDIT: To counterpoint the argument below, in case you haven't noticed Ford keeps changing their statement regarding the F150. A few years ago, it was the best selling truck in America, now it's the best selling full size truck in America. Good job trying to save face as you lose market share, Ford.

As for the Shelby, enjoy your 500 hp as you cruise around getting 15 mpg sipping premium gas which now hovers at $3 a gallon. And dammit, there's that pesky gas guzzler tax you've got to pay. And crap, then there's the fact that it needs 500 hp to carry around its bulky almost 2 ton ***. 500 hp sounds impressive until you realize it only runs a 12.8 quarter mile, which strangely I can do it my mildly modded WRX while still getting over 25 mpg and I can actually go around curves.

And for the Ford GT, which would be the proper name, not the "new GT40". It does 0-100 in 8.8 seconds, actually, and the last time I checked, nobody but millionaires are going to be buying a car that carries a sticker of $149k, and has had nothing but recalls since the day it first hit the street. So I guess Ford must have used the Focus as the basis for that car as well, with the brilliant marketing strategy of attempting to set a new standard for recalls with every model they put out....

And Funkmaster Flex may have a following, but that doesn't mean it's going to push that monstrous creation out the door of your local Ford dealer.

2nd EDIT: That was the point of my original comment. Instead of designing something better, something that maybe the consumer actually wants, Ford has decided to create a patch with this 'special edition'. It won't help Excursion sales, and it won't help Ford's bottom line. American manufacturers have been slow to realize what consumers actually want, and their sluggish sales figures show it. This is a stupid idea, and I guarantee it will be a total flop. It's not about building brightly colored special editions with a stupid celebrity's name on it, it's about building quality vehicles first. A quality vehicle that fits consumer needs will sell, but first there has to be a demand for it.....

American car companys are not on the verge of bankruptcy. Japanese for example are falling hard in quality as we speak and their sales will follow! For the ones who dont know anything about the best american and overall car manufacturer, the Shelby GT 500 is currently out and laying the smack down on all the wanabe performance cars. Dont get me wrong, their are some nice cars out their, but Ford is on the top when it comes to new technology and performance. The new GT 40 does 0 to 100 in 8 seconds with a supercharged 5.4 liter engine, the same 5.4 liter motor used in their trucks. You wont find a car out their that fast from factory that you would be able to purchase without being a millionare, and it would be hard to find something period. Over seas manufacturers are realizing their reliability stats are coming back to bite them, because of the over sized stockpile of recalls and owner complaints. If the over seas car makers are being held up high by Americans, then those people need to move their !! Reliability is up to the person who ownes the car. How do they give reliability stats on new cars anyway ? Quit watching so many commercials and flush all the bullcrap out. Their sinking in their own lies, but their will always be the suckers out their who will keep buying them because they dont know any better.

Fords secret weapon ? AMERICAN MADE !!!! Not to mention most powerfull and best selling truck for 35 years, so check those stats.

This vehicle may not be to your liking or taste but Funkmaster Flex made an appearance at the Chicago Auto Show in February (at the Ford display, where I was working) & he has quite a HUGE following!
The Ford showroom was swamped, elbow to elbow with his fans!

You may be laughing your "a" off at it ....but I had a "Funkmaster Flex" edition Explorer sell off my showroom within a couple of days.

Each to his own.
Thank God that EVERYBODY doesn't have Exactly the same taste! What a boring world we would have!
What if the only vehicle that anybody liked was a Pontiac Aztec? & THAT was our only choice ! & We ALL had to have a (boring) silver one. & Nobody offered anything different ! & Nobody could customize it ........

****EDIT*****
gr- don't shoot the messenger! I just 'googled' the guy & pasted the info so you'ld know who he is.

I haven't ordered the FMF Expedition yet but, I live & work in a VERY diverse community & that kinda stuff sells!
Here's a little more info on FMF (not for you gr, but for others that may have different taste than you)

So Ford's "secret weapon" is not such a secret ! & we (Ford) aren't the only ones that are teaming up with him. If you visit his site you'll find plenty of his partners. Like: Turtle Wax , Castrol SYNTEC, Team Baurtwell, Sunoco, Hotwheels, ESPN.....etc
