I'm sorry to see that someone gave Dr. Albert a thumbs down for his answer, because he is probably correct. 99 times out of 100, the reason for this swelling is because the child bit their lip while they were still numb. It is easy to determine if thiswas the cause simply by looking on the inside of the cheek where you will undoubtedly find bite marks. Most of the time this will get better on its own. If it doesn't, your daughter might need some antibiotics. I'd wait no more than 3 or 4 days before having thsi re-evaluated.

If you look in the cheek and do NOT see any bite marks, you should not wait 3-4 days. She might be the 1 out of 100 that has something else wrong.

Chuck E. Cheese may be a lucrative place, but it would be more of a "take a baby girl and leave your son behind with a note" instead of an actual trade. Your son will be fine as long as you give him a lot of tokens to show how much you love him. Just remember that you can't trade back when your 15 year old daughter comes home pregnant, or becomes a stripper. You are on your own.

Sometimes that happens after a filling. It is just from the pressure the dentist has to put on the area and the trauma to the area. Not everyone swells after a filling, but I do so don't worry. She is just delicate skinned. I bet she bruises easily too. Give her some Tylenol or what ever you use for fever and it should go down in a day or two. If you are still worried 24 hours later, call the dentist and ask.

Maybe she did have a reaction to the novacaine, or maybe because that section was numb, she bit down on it a lot without noticing? I'm really not sure.
