Already had a diff stereo than the factory but i bought the wiring kit and now I can't locate the battery wire coming from the truck itself. It's orange on the wiring kit but my orange wire from the truck won't power it up. A stereo place told me to run it thru a red wire thru the ignition...I'm not sure about that thou...i need help!!!!

In GM's wiring, the constant power wire is orange, but in after-market wiring it's almost always yellow. You may just be connecting to the wrong wire on your wiring kit. After-market wiring codes use orange as an illumination wire, which won't be harmed if it's connected to 12v but won't turn the radio on either.

For an after-market radio to turn on there must be constant voltage on the yellow wire and key-switched voltage on the red wire, as well as having the black wire grounded.

If there's no voltage on the GM orange wire, then you may have a blown fuse in the vehicle.

you really need a tester they sell at the parts store, it looks like a screw driver with a point ant the end. you hook it upto the groundwire at the one end and touch the other end to wires... if its a hot lead the light will come on....
