Several years ago I had an unusual experience concerning an uncle, a distant relative who lived over a thousand miles away.
While driving my car I suddenly felt the unmistakable presence of this relative that I hardly even knew. He was more like someone I had heard about than someone I knew. It was very strange; it felt as though I was momentarily lifted right out of my physical body. I seemed to be suspended somehow beyond space and time, bathed in a love so intense It felt like I could have just disappear into it at any moment if It would have let me. It only lasted for a few seconds, but it seemed to last forever at the same time. I realize how crazy this must sound. The experience was so strong that at first I was afraid I was loosing my grip on reality. I finally managed to chalk it up to an over active imagination.
Three days later I got a call from my aunt telling me that this uncle we are talking about had gone into a coma and died the day I had the experience. It felt like ice water had been poured down my back when she told me this. I had lost any real ideas of God or faith and had become somewhat of an atheist. Needless to say this experience caused me to rethink some of the conclusions I had come to.
I feel blessed to now understand that even in our darkest confusion something loves us so much that it went out of its way to assist me and bring me back to a state of absolute certainty about Gods love for us.
During the experience it seemed like there was a vast amount of information that I was somehow allowed access to. One thing that I came away from this experience understanding beyond any shadow of a doubt was that any Idea that God is unhappy with us or would judge or allow us to be punished for any reason is simply impossible.
I can’t explain the love I felt with words. They simply don’t make words big enough or complete enough to do this. The only way I can begin to convey this love to you is to say that there was simply nothing else there. Nothing but love. No hint of judgment, no displeasure of any sort. It is as though God sees us as being as perfect as we were the day we were created. It is only in our confused idea of ourselves that we seem to have changed.
I hope this is of some help to you. Good luck. Love and blessings.
Your brother don

I will be buried, nothing will benefit me except my good deeds in life, My parents, my son, my wife, my relatives, and my money will leave me alone. After that, 2 angels will ask me some questions about My God, My Prophet (Mohammed) and my religion (Islam). If my life was good I will easily answer these questions, if not I will not know the answers. After that, I will know if I will be in THE PARADISE or in THE HELL. Everyone of us will be eternal either in HEAVEN or in HELL. Let's calculate it right to know that our life is considered 2-2.5 minutes if considered to dooms day.
Surely God will raise all the dead. But God has His own plan of things. A day will come when the whole universe will be destroyed and then the dead will be resurrected to stand before God. That day will be the beginning of a life that will never end, and on that day every person will be rewarded by God according to his or her good or evil deeds.
The explanation that the Quran gives about the necessity of life after death is what the moral consciousness of man demands. Actually, if there is no life after death, the very belief in God becomes meaningless or even if one believes in God, it would be n unjust and indifferent God, having once created man and now not being concerned with his fate.
Surely, God is just. He will punish the tyrants, whose crimes are beyond count - having tortured and killed hundreds or thousands of innocent people, created great corruption in society, enslaved numerous persons to serve their whims, etc., because man has a very short life span in this world and because numerous individuals are affected by one’s actions, adequate punishments and rewards are not possible in this life.

According to the Bible, your ultimate destiny will either be heaven or hell.
Hebrews 9:27 says:
"Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,"
Those who repent of their sins and place their complete trust in Jesus Christ's death and resurrection for the forgiveness of their sins will go to heaven when they die. Everyone else will go to hell, a place where their is "weeping and gnashing of teeth." It is also described as "outer darkness"...total separation from God.
It is God's desire that no one goes to hell. The Bible says, "The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance" (2 Peter 3:9).
According to most of the answerers above, when you die you just rot, decompose, cease to exist, etc. If they are right, then you have nothing to gain or lose when you die. If they are wrong, and if the Bible is right (which I believe that it IS), you have either everything to GAIN if you accept Christ and everything to LOSE if you spurn, ignore, or reject Him.

We cease to exist. Ecclesiastes 9:5,10. Ezekiel 18:4. But, there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous, all those in their memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.

I believe that we are in a state of sleep until the judgement. Then when the Lord comes back, the dead in Christ will rise first and the one's that remain will be changed in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye and they'll all meet Him in the air...I dont think we go to pergatory and wait for that day to happen. I think that people who are lost will go to Hell when they die and wait for the judgement and then be sent back to hell after being judged.
Rev 20:13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them:
and they were judged every man according to their works.

The Apostle Paul wrote in I Corinthians 5: 8
" We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the LORD."

at the moment of death pain is no longer perceived. Fear passes away. The brain releases floods of neurotransmitters as it dies, causing powerful hallucinations. Glutamate release in particular causes release of all memories you've ever had. Your most basic beleifs about the wrold are expressed by the archaic cortical centres: good people experience a sense of peace and fulfilment; they see spiritual figures and their relatives. Bad people who are negative and cynical feel a sense of absolute isoaltion and hopelessness, blackness and abandonment. This is called hell.

John 5:28 says that we rest in the grave or are gone.
During the last day or judgement day we are resurrected and judge by what we did. So all humans who have died are really dead and awaiting a resurrection.
