Wow, there seems to be some hostile emotions behind that question.

As for this so-called "brainwashing" to become a Christian of some sort, and to have it happen to all people on the earth at the same time, according to Latter Day Saint doctrine, it is not directly connected to the status of humans in general existing on this planet. However, there is a situation taught in different denominations of when this planet would be populated by only good people.

What a lot of Christians of different denominations know, including the Latter Day Saints, is that there will be a time when the wicked will be destroyed at the day of the coming of the Lord. And yes this would be worldwide simultaneous calamities. But somehow, the righteous would live while the wicked would be burned and destroyed as stubble or chaff.

With that perception, it sounds like if those Christians of whatever denomination have friends who don't believe in Christ then they have two basic options:

1. Feel that they tried their best as they try to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with those they care about after the great and dreadful day of the Lord.

2. Feel guilty after that great and dreadful day because that they didn't do their duty to their friends because they were too scared to offend their non-Christian friends and so did not share the Gospel of Jesus Christ with them.

So, if you know a Christian while you yourself are not, and that "friend" is not sharing what he or she knows, then there's something wrong with that friendship, in my opinion. That person should by now have tried to invite you to church or to a church social or even a scripture study.

If you haven't gotten your invite from your friend to study out Christianity, then feel free to accept my invite. You can either contact me or visit the following web site:

www.mormon.org

You should be able to request missionaries to come visit you and go through a series of lessons that build on each other on the different inter-related parts of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saint doctrine. The missionary elders who taught me a long time ago did a great job. And I didn't take the immediate plunge myself after they asked me to join the church. We worked out some kinks and soon found others, like disapproval from some family members, but I eventually got baptized and things are still good. I even got the chance to serve a mission as well, two years after I was baptized.

If you are going to college and you get these basic lessons from the missionaries, try to also find out if you could attend an LDS Institute of Religion. These places offer classes and topics in a college course format. Between that and the missionaries teaching related lessons, a person should get a healthy dose of Christian ideas and such.

So, if people somehow got "offended" because I took awhile to essentially say "yes" to this question, then I apoligize. It's just the topic of this question was thought provoking to me with all its nuances that I could see, and I had to do something about it. I would like to see some feedback to know if this "rambling" made sense or not.

Thanks,
Alvin R.

Christians are not brainwashed into believing.... we actually SEEK out, with a purpose, a relationship with our Lord and Creator that allows us to become born again spiritually. It is a very emotional and rewarding experience. And if everyone did it, we would not only still exist, but we would all love each other as one group of brothers and sisters in Christ through the Holy Spirit!!!

No. Christians want the world to end, since that's a sign they can all go to heaven. Remember the Dark Ages? Thanks to christianity, science was set back for over a millenia. I mean, who would want to be a scientist when the church burns you for showing reality contradicts the bible?!?!

Muslims are as brainwashed as Christians, but they don't ignore their book. You see what happens when someone truly believes.

We are not brainwashed, we are washed in the Blood of Christ. I'd rather refer that to being heart washed instead of brain washed. Either way, I sure am glad, I'm washed....

Nothing as refreshing as a good (God) brainwashing.
