A friend I know had committed an act of child molestation at age 15. He improperly touched the boy, who was age 7 at the time. The boy recented revealed what occured to him and my friend (who is now 25) has been locked up with no bail.

Now, by no means do I support what this idiot did! However, he was 15 at the time and 10 years has passed. Is their some sort of statute of limitations on this and if not, what's that maximum penalty he could get?

I thought statute of limitations was seven years, you'll have to get legal advice on this one. Because laws vary from state to state and country to country.

there is no statuatory limitation on sex crimes. Usually they have a rule of thumb that says that it's either 20 years after the incident or 20 years after the victim turns 16 (if they were under 16 at the time of the incident) In Mass he could get a 6 - 15 years (with good behavior) and then after he was released, have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life!
Also, many people believe that this "sickness" only grows and gets stronger with age. They call it a sickness, the rest of us call them sick. So imagine who else he's molested since then.....

I don't think there is any statute of limitations, thank goodness.

You are asking the wrong person. I don't really care how old he was, he knew it was wrong. I am sure there is a lot more information then you presented.

My judgement is to have him hung upside by his balls, and when they fall off give him a life sentence in jail with confirmed gays.

Aren't you glad you asked. The only innocent person here was the 7 year old, not your friend.

Where are you from (or well more precisely where did this occur).

Laws very from state to state, and countries and so do their penalties.

In some countries you can get the death penalty, others a "good behaviour bond"

i'm sorry, but anyone of any age who would molest a young boy like that deserves to be hit with the toughest of penalties. i understand that your friend was young himself and most likely, curious, but that in no way limits, or alters the damage done to that boy nor, does it lessen your friend's lack of empathy and judgment. such a display of selfish concern is ingrained and not necessarily something one grows out of. your empathizing and excusing your friend's behavior is just as concerning to me.

sorry - JMO

It happened when he was a juvenile. Juvenile laws will take precedent. To wit: The case files should be sealed and the case adjudicated as a Juvenile.

He needs a good lawyer, there may be some rights issues and procedural issues involved.

no if this was report before he turned 18 and they are taking action now then you have to say something if it was revealed after the age of 18 then some how someone has to show proof in the case i mean how can the victim show proof of time and date
