Who decided that unbaptised infants had to go to Limbo and why did Benedict gain such incisive insight that he changed that? Are we to believe that he can just changed a doctrine as though he talks to God?
Did he ask any of you about this before making this ruling?

Another pitfall of religion.

The Church has pondered the suggestion of Limbo for a few hundred years and has decided that it is not a good idea. Limbo was never official doctrine.

Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the gospel to the whole creation. He who believes and is baptized will be saved." (Mark 16:15-16)

For centuries, people have wondered about children who died before they were baptized. The Bible does not explicitly state that they will go to heaven.

Limbo was suggested as the place where unbaptized babies went when they died. This idea was never official Church doctrine and has been rejected.

The Church now says that it is not sure what happens to unbaptized babies when they die but she entrusts them to the mercy of God.

With love in Christ.

That is why there is a pope, so that no one has to ask every single Catholic. A previous pope decided on Limbo, and this one has decided that decision was in correct. Niether decision has major bearing on the majority of Catholics living today.

Ugh. I truly don't see how anyone can keep buying this stuff.
They claim to be the earthly embodiment of divine decree... yet have no problem changing their minds at the drop of a hat about what that divine decree is.

Yet their followers nod and just keep on swallowing the whole thing.
