the basic verb for "to buy" is 買う [Kau] but the proper verb would be 買います [Kaimasu] (the u at the end is not pronounced: Kaimas) or the "te-form" verb that modifies another 買って [Katte]

used in a sentence to say : "I will buy that shirt." You can say:
私はシャツを買います。[Watashi wa shatsu wo kaimasu]
私はシャツを買っています。[Watashi wa shatsu wo katte imasu]
私はシャツを買う。[Watashi wa shatsu wo kau]
