ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder-Inattentive Type and ADHD is Attention Deficit Disorder with Hyperactivity. ADD and ADHD can both be difficult and cause distractibility, forgetfulness, disorganization, difficulty following rapid conversations, and low self esteem. Both can cause difficulty in completing school work and assignments in a timely manner. Either can affect an individual’s ability to keep track of their belongings or to keep track of time. ADD, however, is without hyperactivity. A person can be withdrawn, shy and quiet.

Boy is this ever my question. ADD is Attention Defeiceit Disorder, and ADHD includes hyperactivity. A lot of people are getting aggravatted with it being just a "label" slapped on rowdy kids. Make sure your child is tested by a psychiatrist, psychologist, or from the hospital. And get them on the proper meds and keep an eye on them. My oldest is 11 now and he has had ADHD since age 4 and he knows how to tell me when it is not working anymore. If you suspect that you kid(s) has either than go to a doctor or a Counseling center.

Well, strickly speaking, "ADD" is just an informal name for one subtype of ADHD. The DSM lists Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder with three subtypes: predominantly inattentive type, predominantly hyperactive-impuslive type, and combined type. ADD stands for Attention Defficit Disorder, and refers to the inattentive type of ADHD.
It's sort of unfortunate that the innattentive subtype of ADHD is lumped together with the hyperactive subtype, because they're actually really different. While they both make it hard for people to pay attention to things for a long time, people with the hyperactive version tend to describe that they can't pay attention because their thoughts move too fast, whereas people with the innattentive type and no hyperactivity tend to day dream a lot, and seem space rather than like they're rushing through everything.

ADD is Attention Deficit Disorder. ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. The difference is that ADD doesn't have the hyperactivity that ADHD does. In other words, the kid isn't bouncing off the walls.

With ADD, people don't feel the need to move around all the time(hyperactivity) and people with ADHD do.

They're both same. ADD is the shortened version of ADHD. ADHD is Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, and ADD is Attention Defict Disorder. Hope this answers your question.

ADD is "Attention Deficit Disorder" and ADHD is "Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder." They were once considered to be seperate disorders; now the DSM-IV puts both under the heading of ADHD.

One is Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and the other is Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder(ADHD), I think that a child with ADD just has learning disabilities and a child with ADHD is hyperactive along with learning disabilities.
