The last black cat I adopted was named 'Dusty' and he lived twenty years. But I didn't choose his name. Got him as an adult cat from my brother after his divorce.

The next black cat I adopt I plan to name 'Mephistopheles.' Then I can introduce him to everyone as my familiar.

My black tomcat's name is Bobby Seale. Bobby Seale was a co-founder of the Black Panther Party. My Bobby looks like a little Black Panther-if I ever get a female black cat, I'll call her Angela Davis!

Onyx - this is the name of a pretty black stone. It would fit very well as a name for a black cat whether it be male or female. Blackjack, Silky, Ash, Cinder, Cole, Jubei, Neko-( which means cat in japanese), Shadow.

I just adopted a black cat. The shelter named her a boys name. What I did was make a list of names, and let her pick out her name. Cats are smart. They will let you know. My black cat's name is Rukia.

My Black cat's name is "VELVET " .. his fur is so beautiful and looks like black velvet ..thus the name .. (but could be used for a girl also) I name my cats for what they remind me of .. and how the name sounds .. when he is acting up ..it is a short velvet' .. when he is good ..it is velllllllll vetttttttt... but even when he is bad , he is good ... PS he likes his name too !

The same as those others have suggested. Maybe ask friends or family for some suggestions then try calling your cat by them. Whichever one it responds to use.
