If it's an after-market deck, and has only the blue wire, then that should work as a standard amp remote turn-on. If a deck has both wires, blue/white is always correct; but if there's only one, then go ahead and use the blue.

An aftermarket stereo is always going to have one of two wires, a blue or blue/white wire for amp turn on or an out of place color wire for a power antenna connection. Either of these will work to power on your amplifier.

its all copper wrapped in plastic,
as long as the wire's lead from the right place to the right place and are the right gage it shouldn't matter (the gage of the wire should be printed on the insulation, but the color of the insulation is only for working reference)
