I'm building a gaming PC. So I guess its windows, plus I use Vista Ultimate right now and I have no problems with it apart from a few graphics card driver problems.

If you're into gaming, Windows is the only choice. Other than that, you could look into buying a Mac and dual-booting Windows and Mac OS, or stick with the PC and dual boot Linux and Windows. Use Windows for gaming and Linux for everything else.

what do you use the pc for?

windows = more popular, widely used in businesses, less compatability issues. but less secure. crashes most of the time. (i don't know about vista yet)

linux = not as popular. but more secure and stable. you got a lot of choices when it comes to programs because it's open source. just needs a little getting used to. because of different interface. but most of the windows prog has equivalents for linux.

over all if its just basic stuff that you do with your pc. and you don't go into malicious sites and don't open email attachement and unmindfully download stuff then it really doesn't matter a whole lot.

Unless you have a compelling reason to use windows you should avoid it.
