They frequently quote from the Old testament, which is entirely Hebrew scripture, and yet I've never heard one of them breath a word against Judaism. Can it be that for all their posturing and strutting as iconoclastic taboo-busters,they are afraid to violate that old post-1945 taboo against criticism of Jews and Judaism? Never a word against Hinduism, either. I could mention others, but I'm particular fascinated that they heap scorn and abuse on Christians, largely by quoting Judaic scripture - and yet never mention a word about Judaism, not even the phrase "Judeo-Christianity". Strange! Any special reason for this omission - other than cowardice and hypocrisy? Let's hear it from the taboo-busters.

No atheist is going to take a course in comparative religion so they are probably unaware of even the term "Judeo-Christianity; plus, most on this site are angry, frustrated teenagers. They are highly vituperative, and can be extremely ugly.

Perhaps it's because Christians are the prominent religious group and are always looking to proselytize. And it's these attempts at converting people (including atheists) that unleash waves of inquiry and honest logical questioning, what you perceive as "attacks", to try and baffle the everyday Christian so they will leave us alone. Jews don't proselytize their religion and it's generally looked down on converting into Judaism. Hinduism again is more passive towards conversion. Islam and Christianity being the most active are bound to receive the most replies and criticisms, what you consider "attacks".

The greater cowardice and hypocrisy lies in the fact that Christians go around questioning the beliefs of others (and increasingly, the beliefs of Muslims) to get "souls" to gain points for their Man-God, while not addressing the major holes and lack of empirical evidence in their own faith.

What did Jesus say again? Something about a log in your eye?

I'm pagan and I don't hear much attacks against my beliefs. They kind of chuckle and just roll their eyes. I get the feeling that it's because Christianity is the dominant religion in this place at this time. It could be that some Christians make their faith a target by railing against Atheism, trying to convert others, and trying to have their religious views made into laws. The prayer in school and Intelligent Design issues increased the Atheist criticism of Christianity, and righfully so in my opinion. If Hinduism was the faith of the majority here and the Hindus were trying to change laws and school procedures to promote their faith, the Atheists would likely be just as up in arms against them too. Don't take it personally, they don't.

Thats an excellent point and one Ive never thought of!!! But it makes sense though.

Christianity is THE only religion in the world that Im aware of that teaches that humanity is actually fallen and not able to do Gods will without totally being regenerated into another creation. Being that Christiniaty is so judgmental in that regard, they feel compelled to lash out against it.

Also they know that Jesus taught peace so they dont have to worry about an armed response to their criticism as they would other militant religions like Islam.

Because it is inevitably christians who are flooding this forum with stupidity. We hear/read very little from any other religious group.
Because it is the christian group who are persisting in pushing their belief system on government, education - and ME!!! Threatening me with eternal damnation if I do not conform with their god idea/concept.
Only once in my 53 years as an athiest has a muslim offered me islamic literature to read (he then retired to his office and didn't badger me at all).
I have NEVER been pressurised by a Jew, Hindu, Sikh, Bhuddist, pagan, Wiccan .... anything other than by bible-thumping christians of one type or another. Therefore, it is against this particular sect that atheists usually speak up about.

That's why THIS religion in particular, even though I deny the existence of all 10'000 versions of an imaginary god.
Cowardice and hypocracy don't enter into it. If the Hindus were continually ranting here, they would get the same treatment ...

OR IS THIS JUST TOO DIFFICULT FOR YOU TO UNDERSTAND?

No, it's because Jews don't go around trying to convert us. All Christians seem to want to do is force their beliefs down our throats, try to convince us that theirs is the only right way and that every other religion in the world is evil, and basically bully people into accepting Jesus. That, and the political agenda of the Christian Right. We're not attacking you, we're fighting back!

Because these christer cultists cannot keep their religion to themselves. They are constantly pushing it were it does not belong. Like using tax dollars to have christian monuments put on public courthouse property, trying to get their religion and prayer time put in our public schools, trying to dumb down our kids by pushing their silly creation supposition in science class. That good enough reason for you?

Oh yeah and the best reason is because they are constantly telling us we will go to hell if we don't suck up to their god, even though they have never produce any evidence for their silly god imagining.

Judaism is not a "proselytizing religion", that's why! In almost half a century I have NEVER had a tarted-up group of Jews (or Hindus, for that matter!) come sauntering up to my front door bringing me "the good news!" and asking for my money. Yet I have probably had two dozen different denominations of "Christian" do this!

Do you see Jews or Hindus trying to legislate their religion of attacking atheists here? The only cowardice is your posting after the start of the Jewish Sabbath in most of the US. The only hypocrisy here is your question.

Actually, I have heard most that bash (because most don't) bashing organized religion all together. They either don't want organized religion, religion at all, or just think the concept of gods is idiotic. In that aspect, they are insulting anyone that believes in a god or goddess, not just Christians. But as I said, most atheists on here don't bash. They explain why they don't like Christianity if they are asked or insulted, but most don't bash.
