i will not 'not' eat any carbs because this is not healthy...i mostly eat whole grains and granola..i eat pretty healthy carbs, with fiber...i want to know a good number without going too "low carb" because that is unhealthy and unrealistic cus i love carbs!!! but i am willing to cut down to a reasonable amount

Well the amount of servings of "carbs" you get in a day doesn't influence your weight loss, it is the amount of calories that influences your weight loss.
Carbs are the bodies main source of fuel and energy so as long as you are active you are burning off whatever carbs you got that day.
So to answer your question you can get as many carbs as you want in a day, but if you want to lose weight then you need to cut your calories.
If you want you can email me and I can help you find out how many you should be getting in a day.
You said above that, " I dont wanna be a slave to counting calaries i just wanna be able to make good choices...i have been eating pretty healthy for 2 weeks and makeing much better choices but i dont think ive lost any weight."
Well again you can eat very healthy foods and still not lose any weight because the only thing that makes you lose weight is to burn more calories then you take in in a day...that's it.
To answer your question about carbs I wouldn't go below 4 servings of carbs a day, because then you will start to burn fat but your body will begin to store it more at the same time so it wouldn't do anything but make you even more unhealthy by increasing your body fat percentage.
I know it sucks to count calories, believe me I hated it too when I first started doing it, but the more you do it then the more it just becomes a habit for you. it will get to the point where you just do it without thinking, but trust me when I say that the amount of carbs you get doesn't determine your weight, it is all about how many calories you get.

It you follow Atkins you intake 20 carbs a day for 2 weeks. You then begin adding some carbs, usually 10 - 20 more. These carbs should be mainly veggies.
Carb intake really depends on your body. Some people are really sensitive to carbs and need to extremely limit their intake. Other people do not have to be as strict. One of those Your mileage may vary deals unfortunately.

No matter what everyone says nowadays about carbs and how they're bad, you still need at least 3 servings of whole grain, complex carbohydrates. If you want to lose weight, cut back on calories. The best way to do that is eliminate saturated fats, which give 9 calories per gram. Carbs only provide 4 calories per gram. Hope this should help you.

Here is the formula to know the ideal carbs intake per day (weight in kilograms x 24 hours a day). You should maintain that intake of ideal carbs to maintain your health. Avoid having snacks because it let you lose you apetite during lunch or dinner. Avoid junkfoods because they don't give you essential carbohydrates. and make sure that you exercise regularly. This will help you lose unwanted fats in your body. Good luck!

Do you mean the number of grams of carbs? It should be under 50 to lose weight. Each product has a gram amount of carbs--you could eat complex carbs which are good for you , like apples, grapes, raw vegetables, etc. You can eat simple carbs that are not good for you like white bread, rolls, white rice, etc. Research on your carbs and also the glycemic index. You need to count the GRAMS of carbs, not the number of times you eat a piece of bread as one carb count each time.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose. eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours) 5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day 8 glasses of water have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily. ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Studies have shown that reducing the amount of calories your eating, and slightly increasing your carbs will help you lose weight.

Losing weight is a simple equation: if you burn more calories than you eat, the weight will come off. Start off by estimating how many calories you burn each day using the calorie calculator http://straighthealth.com/pages/tools/caloriecalclb.html This will give you an idea of how many calories to eat. Healthy weight loss is 1-2 pounds per week. To lose 1 pound per week you need to create a calorie deficit (burn more than you eat) of 500 calories per day. To lose 2 pounds a week, you have to double the deficit to 1000 calories per day. You can achieve this by eating less, exercising more or a combination of both.
