Of course it's serious, it doesn't matter how old you are, it's great that you and your dad are so close. Is there a routine that you guys do before bed? If so, try to follow that routine as close as you can without him, that may help.

One thing that my daughter likes to do is get a T-shirt of her dad's and sleep in that. Dad's shirts are always comfortable to sleep in and having his scent around you may help you to fall asleep. I know it helps my daughter.

By the way, I think it's great that you are sensitive enough to know that you shouldn't wake him up if he's feeling that bad.

It's not a matter of "grow up," but it is a matter of "if you love someone, sometimes you put them ahead of you."

There are worse things than not sleeping all that well for a night or two. You don't want to wake dad, he's sick, so you do what you can for him, which is put yourself to bed, and remind yourself that you're doing this because you love him - and it won't last forever, he'll be well again soon.

Meantime, he needs his rest.

If you have a stuffed animal (or a dog), now's the time to take it to bed with you and hold it. If not, read for a few minutes in bed (something reassuring and fun). Whenever you feel weird, remind yourself that you are doing this for your dad, and he'll be well again soon.

I understand that you need your dad to tuck you in, but, as you said, he is very sick. I think it's so sweet of you to not wake him up. That is quite mature and unselfish.
You should quietly go to your dad's room, kiss him good night, and then go tuck yourself into bed. There are times when you just have to do for yourself, and this is one of those times. I am sure that your dad will feel better tomorrow and will be able to tuck you in.

Good night.

why not lay a blanket and pillow on the floor next to him and sleep there? better yet, you tuck him in for a change to show him how much you love him.
