I mean, in practice, not in theory. does everyone just talk and argue at the same time (like in mine)? or is it more measured and moderated?

It varies. With some people, there's no working things out, they just will not listen to anyone else, get defensive no matter what you say or how you put it. We try to minimize contact with those, stand up for ourselves calmly but firmly when it's important, shrug off the rest.

With others, we talk things out, make an effort to be polite and considerate. work things out. These are the people we're closest to (and over the years, make efforts to see).

With each other, my husband and I have ground rules for fair fighting (no bringing up the past, no "you always" or "you never" statements, no bringing up things outside the issue at hand, no hitting or yelling). We're genuinely trying to resolve the issue at hand and want to get along, so we have a vested interest in being reasonable - each of us wants the other to be happy. Takes an effort, but things that are resolved tend to stay resolved, that way, and we can move on.

My family consists of 1-2-3 and spanking with my 6 years old daughter. I have to count before I can get her to listen. She gets spanking, but not hard. Hubby and I don't realy argue, but when we do he usually go out the door and comes back after an hour later. I would be so guilty that I didn't want nothing happened to him while driving, that I would call him on his cell to come home. When he comes in this time the arguement stop all together and we go to bed not angry anymore. This is out of every blue moon that we argue. Very seldom.

There is a lot of yelling and tears before most arguments get solved In this house.

But at the end of the day we go to bed happy and not fighting. Until the next day.

Normally there aren't any big problems in my, just my fiance and his 14 year old son going back and forth. The 14 year old asks a question, my fiance answers, the 14 year old gets whiny (why?! But Daaad). Normally ends with the 14 year old walking away saying FINE! ;o) Normally bad behavior results in games being taken away. (just the treat of it stops everyone in their tracks usually).

are you able to assert "dysfunctional?" they could get alongside in the event that they actually had to yet some human beings look to savor the chaos of their lives. I for one, hate conflicts of any kind, fantastically in the relatives circle. attempt to distance your self from the relatives circus once you may. choose for a walk, stress, or basically flow away the domicile & flow outdoors whilst the drama starts off.

I am mom. My decision is final. Resistance is futile. The are no arguements after that.

It just harder for me to decide who and what and when before I lay down judgement.

We go to separate corners and come out after we've cooled down. I usually go fishing, my wife goes to the gym. That's the way it worked today anyway.
