I know its not all people.... but I have encountered some religious people that said they didnt believe in horiscopes because it was of the devil, and evil. I find it entertaining first and foremost but yet there are some truths to it when you look at human behavior... but can someone explain why its considered evil?

It's mainly due to a closed mind and unforgiving nature.
I am a Christian, and if someone doesn't think that astrology has it's place in the bible, maybe they shouldn't follow a star to their messiah.

There are waves of truth in everything...it's all in how you surf.

Mainly because they are indoctrinated with the belief to fear that which the church does not control . When the Israelites worshipped the calf , the sign of Taurus was passing the sun . Likewise when the Jewish religion was formed Aries the ram was passing . The conection with the ram is well known through their sacrifices of them .And with the coming of Christianity , Pices was passing through . A mere coincidence ? Whilst I know little of astrology ,it is only a subject ,an ancient science to figure things out . Astronomy ,some sciences , meteorology , and more have stemmed from it . It is no more evil than some of the tales told by some of the churches over the many centuries . Anything in the wrong hands can be harmful . It's also ironic that God himself created evil (Isaiah 45;7 KJV) . If we are to avoid this so called evil , why did he creat it , and on many occosians ,used it himself ? .Does he not mention Arcturus , Pleiades , and the Orion star constellations ? .

Because it is something that is called "divination" - trying to foresee the future, and is considered forbidden in their religion. That, and fear that it might lead a follower astray into another belief group. Some preachers still say that rock and roll music is the devil's music, even after it being around for more than 50 years, so trying to tell people they are just being superstitious isn't always easy. BTW: Astrology was invented by the Babylonians that were anihilated, so that should give you an idea of how effective it is (i.e., it doesn't work).

In the Middle Ages Astrology was considered to be science and was not considered evil. For something to be evil it must interfere with ones relationship with God. Today Astrology is often associated with the occult and that association may be dangerous to one's spiritual connection to God which is evil.

In the past there have been false scientific disciplines such as Astrology and Alchemy. Today the false science is evolution and there will be others in the future. Astrology fed man's need to be knowledgeable about the future. Alchemy reflected man's desire to wealthy and evolution reflects man's desire to have the mind of God. All are false sciences and human fantasy.

In the past monotheism was in direct competition with astrology and other magic practices for the faith of the people. To promote their own religion, priests said any other form of worship or religious practice was evil. This has held over until today, although few people would consider astrology a serious threat to the primacy of monotheism.

The Bible has much to say about the stars. Most basic to our understanding of the stars is that God created them. They show His power and majesty. The heavens are God’s “handiwork” (Psalm 8:3; 19:1). He has “garnished the heavens” (Job 26:13). He has all the stars numbered and named (Psalm 147:4).

The Bible also teaches that God arranged the stars into recognizable groups that we call constellations. The Bible mentions three of these: Orion, the Bear (Ursa Major), and “the crooked serpent” (most likely Draco) in Job 9:9; 26:13; 38:31-32; and Amos 5:8. The same passages also reference the star group Pleiades (the Seven Stars). God is the One Who “fastens the bands” of these constellations; He is the One Who brings them forth, “each in its season.” In Job 28:32, God also points to the “Mazzaroth,” usually translated “constellations.” This is thought by many to be a reference to the twelve constellations of the zodiac.

The constellations have been tracked and studied for millennia—the Egyptians and Greeks knew of the zodiac and used it to measure the beginning of spring centuries before Christ. Much has been written of the meaning of the zodiacal constellations, including theories that they comprise an ancient display of God’s redemptive plan. For example, the constellation Leo can be seen as a celestial depiction of the Lion of the Tribe of Judah (Revelation 5:5), and Virgo could be a reminder of the virgin who bore Christ. However, the Bible does not indicate any “hidden meaning” for these or other constellations.

The Bible says that stars, along with the sun and moon, were given for “signs” and “seasons” (Genesis 1:14); that is, they were meant to mark time for us. They are also “signs” in the sense of navigational “indicators,” and all through history we have used the stars to chart courses across the globe.

God used the stars as an illustration of His promise to give Abraham an innumerable seed (Genesis 15:5). Thus, every time Abraham looked up at the night sky, he had a reminder of God’s faithfulness and goodness. The final judgment of the earth will be accompanied by astronomical events relating to the stars (Isaiah 13:9-10; Joel 3:15; Matthew 26:29).

Astrology is the “interpretation” of an assumed influence the stars (and planets) exert on human destiny. It is a false belief. The royal astrologers of the Babylonian court were put to shame by God’s prophet Daniel (Daniel 1:20) and were powerless to interpret the king’s dream (Daniel 2:27). God specifies astrologers as among those who will be burned as stubble in God’s judgment (Isaiah 47:13-14). Astrology, as a form of divination, is expressly forbidden in scripture (Deuteronomy 18:10-14).

God forbade the children of Israel to worship or serve the “host of heaven” (Deuteronomy 4:19). Several times in their history, however, Israel fell into that very sin (2 Kings 17:16 is one example). Their worship of the stars brought God’s judgment each time.

The stars should awaken wonder at God’s power, wisdom, and infinitude. We should use the stars to keep track of time and place and to remind us of God’s faithful, covenant-keeping nature. All the while, we acknowledge the Creator of the heavens. Our wisdom comes from God, not the stars (James 1:5). The Word of God, the Bible, is our guide through life (Psalm 119:105).

Hi there,

Astrology is considered "evil" by many God-fearing people because it's origins are based in old pagan beliefs. The watching of galatic phenomena and the worship of the sky itself are what brought about the system of Sun Signs. Yes, it could be said that there IS something to it, that it isn't just hokey mumbo-jumbo, but saying that means the sky is right and God isn't (or His Plan for you would be superceded by your "Solar Destiny").

Be well in all things,

some religions might find it evil because stars are other worlds and if their is other people living somewhere else it would go against their religion on how earth is believed to be leaded religiously and how other people might not believe in the religion. like the Bible never mentions other beings so it would mean the ruling was done in earth and he is believed to be god and didnt create the universe if nothing was said about other aliens.

Because in some instances of the old phofetic book and history, God told the Prophets that using a medium or witch was evil. Like whe Ahab went to a witch. Some consider it witchcraft.

I don't think it is evil. I just think it is nonsense. many years ago, a Professor in College asked his students to write their astrological sign on a piece of paper and give it to him/ The next day, he called out each name of his students and gave them a sealed envelope with their horoscope. . No talking, no exchange of information and they were to read their horoscopes silently. After everyone had done as they were told, he asked his students to raise their hand if they could relate to their horoscope. The entire class raised their hands. The problem is that he had given everyone the SAME horoscope.
