Some people think God has an angel posted at the gate to check and see just how wet you got. If you were not completely dunked under the water, the angel is supposed to turn you away.
OH, and if the guy who dunked you didn't utter the right formula, out you go.
Now, while I agree that if a person can be baptized, they ought to, I highly doubt that God is going to shut anyone out of heaven over such a detail. He seems to be much more interested in what is inside than how wet we are on the outside.
At least, that's my opinion.

John 3:5 We cannot enter heaven unless baptized. That doesn't mean baptism is what saves us. We are saved through faith in Jesus Christ. But at the same time If you have truly accepted Christ you will get baptized into His church.
That doesn't mean that anyone who isn't baptized will go to hell though. Look up baptisms for the dead in the Bible. It's for anyone who doesn't get baptized while on earth that would've if they had the chance!
Have a great day!:)

I'm so glad you asked. Everyone is so confussed on this topic. Ok well I just got baptised and I'm Christian... have been sense i was 3. ((i'm 14 now)) God recomends being baptised. Baptism is just showing others what is already happening on the inside. It is showing others that you believe in God. IT is showing your faith. You do not have to be baptised to get to Heaven. Jesus was baptised because He knows God wants us to show the world our faith. Jesus never committed a sin. So being baptised isn't washing away sin either. The proper way to bebaptised is when the Pastor of your church dunks you back into the water and all the way in. That is how Jesus did it. If you have any questions then I suggest you go to: http://hermonbaptistchurch.org/ and you can call my pastor, he will be more than happy to talk with you.

Baptismal regeneration is the belief that a person must be baptized in order to be saved. It is our contention that baptism is an important step of obedience for a Christian, but we adamantly reject baptism as being required for salvation. We strongly believe that each and every Christian should be water baptized by immersion. Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4 declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” The action of being immersed in the water illustrates being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.
Anything in addition to faith in Jesus Christ as being required for salvation is a works-based salvation. To add ANYTHING to the Gospel is to say that Jesus' death on the cross was not sufficient to purchase our salvation. To say that we must be baptized in order to be saved is to say that we must add our own good works and obedience to Christ's death in order to make it sufficient for salvation. Jesus' death alone paid for our sins (Romans 5:8; 2 Corinthians 5:21). Jesus' payment for our sins is appropriated to our "account" by faith alone (John 3:16; Acts 16:31; Ephesians 2:8-9). Therefore, baptism is an important step of obedience after salvation, but cannot be a requirement for salvation.

Yes, being baptized and going to church does not save you; its your relationship with Jesus, that is that you've trusted Him to forgive you of your sins and asked Him to come into your heart and be your Savior is what gets you into Heaven.

Yes. If he/she would have accepted baptism if given the chance, then that person would be eligible to enter Heaven. God judges by the heart, not the circumstances. How would He be just and fair otherwise, especially if the person had never even heard of baptism or the Gospel?

Yes. There is baptism by desire. If the person desires to be baptized then they recieve the grace. You don't need to go through the cerimony, that is only for show. In the case of children who don't desire they are innocent anyhow and get a free pass.

Yes they can. See Luke 23. The robber on the cross received Salvation because he knew that he was wrong and believed that Jesus was whom he claimed to be. I believe that even on a person's death bed they can receive Salvation.
It's by grace we are saved not by works. Even baptism can become a work. Please note the word can become a work. Not that it is if it truly comes from the heart of the individual who truly claims Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
I was baptised as a baby and that was my parents choice not my own. When I became an adult I was able to choose for my self with out someone else doing that for me.
Just because my parent's choose for me doesn't have any thing to do with Salvation because it was a work on their part because I was baptisted in religion and not the complete truth.
Ephesians 2:8-9
8For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God— 9not by works, so that no one can boast.
The whole point of baptism is a sign of obedience to God. It is not a perquisite for a person's Salvation if they were to have a short time on this earth while accepting christ. Now if the person has the time they can get baptisted. It's symbolic of the old person dying to their old self and becoming the new person in christ.
I also agree with John 3:3-5 and I do believe that God does make exceptions just as I have mentioned. God knows what's in the person's heart. He searches the heart of the person.
If it were based on that alone then where would be the Grace of God? God can save a person in which ever way he chooses to do so. Just like he did with the thief on the cross.
Then you have to look at his whole purpose for dying on the cross. With out that we wouldn't have Salvation to begin with.
Salvation isn't based on what we think but what God tells us by his complete word. You have to read the whole bible as it is written and not just bits and pieces. A person can saved in a variety of ways not just one way.
(Meaning that a person could ask God into their heart and get hit by a car in an instant, A person could be drowning and they could ask jesus in their heart before they die, etc.)
This sounds a lot like they type of question that a person from the boston movement (Christ of Christ) would ask. Are you from that type of Church?

There are those who cannot be baptized for one reason or another. I'd say it depends on the cercumstances. Only God knows the heart.
