You can buy a car but you cant take if off the lot until you show proof of insurance but if your buying from a private party that isnt the case you buy the car then hope you dont hit anything on the way to your insurance broker or if your smart you will call an insurance guy first then give them a heads up and they may be able to bind you before you know what your buying

You can get insurance on line in about 5 minutes and a credit card, but the car comes first, since you will have to supply the VIN number of the car to the insurance company.

Buy the car first, and then arrange your insurance. You could speak with an agent first, just to give them a "heads up", that you are planning a purchase, so that they might have an idea of what you need, when the time comes.

Technically, the car comes first. You can't insure something if you don't own it.

When you're ready to decide on the car, let your insurance agent know before you pick up your car so that the car is insured while you drive the car home.

In Ohio, we don't need insurance to buy a car, but it is necessary to obtain plates. If the car is paid for in cash, then it can be purchased without insurance, but again, you have to declare the insurance company for the tags.
