1995 maxima just put another motor in it, transmission was fine before. Its an automatic and now when driving it seems to slip out of gear or something. I can put it in park and then back in gear and it will go. What could be the problem?

Hi,try adjusting the transmission linkage. It seems feasible that when you made the swap you may have removed the linkage.I am not sure if it has a cable or not.It could also be binding up.You may have to replace the cable if it is corroded internally due to moisture.Good luck.

Rubber bushing at the end of the transmission shift cable is worn away or the cable is not adjusted properly. Have some one move the shifter while you look at the transmission end for slack key on and motor not running. There is a hole for 1/8 inch drill bit to adjust the neutral posistion if the cable end looks good. Simple repair do it soon before any dammage is done. Engine off place trans in neutral loosen the 12mm nut move the lever so the 1/8 drill bit engages the black neutral saftey switch thru the lever hold the lever with a cresent wrench and tighten the 12mm nut.

They probably didn't un-bolt the torque converter before they tried to rip it out. Most dealer mechanics work for flat rate wages, which means they have a certain amount of time to complete each job, and they try to rush through them to complete more jobs for more cash. Might have been a slip up and they didn't want to disclose it, or they didn't think it damaged the trans. But its kinda hard to say without seeing it first hand. Or it might be as simple as them re-adjusting the linkage. Take it a profesional mechanic to get checked out, after you talk to the dealer and let them know about the new issues with your car.
